The functional objectives of the Optical Technologies Market Manager are to be segment/market/product line owners identifying and executing on sustained growth and profitability, maintain alignment with segment/market needs and solution capabilities, align and partner with the commercial team by interacting with commercial representatives, customers, partners, and vendors on product, process, business, technological issues, and opportunity evaluations. He/she will need to need to conduct regular assessments on the segment, market, technology, and competition to provide strategic and actionable recommendations for their managed markets. He/she will be the market knowledge resource/voice across the organization in the targeted markets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and execute on new opportunities for market penetration with our solution capabilities (products, services applications, and new solution development).
  • Interpret competitor products, market/customer unmet needs, and identify new ways to exceed customer expectations.
  • Understand how the business produces customer value with its value chain process and measurable results while showing an unrelenting and aggressive drive towards achieving goals.
  • Effectively champion the segment, market, and solution capabilities' direction through constant interaction with appropriate parties.
  • Meet customers and market participants to understand customer needs and product requirements through Voice of the Customer (VoC) activity.
  • Prepare customer/market requirements by identifying the segment/market's product development plans and roadmaps and support in the development of our organization's solution roadmaps.
  • Develop marketing specification guidelines for product requirements that establishes a strong and clear value proposition.
  • Consistently implement IDEX's toolbox maintaining an 80/20 focus and alignment throughout Optical Technologies.
  • Process implementation, execution, and continuous improvement
  • Support the company values of Trust, Team, Excellence and foster a low ego culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Prior product management experience.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and planning skills.
  • Possess a unique blend of business, technical, analytical, and market aptitude.
  • Passion to overcome obstacles and barriers to success.
  • Strong communicator inside and outside the organization with both domestic and international customers/partners/team.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity (ability to make decisions/judgements without knowing all the facts).
  • Demonstrated use of strategic marketing and business process tools.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements and needs into product and solution requirements, considering the potential for extensibility or reusability for other future customers.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Applicant should have 5+ years of experience with OEM component products within the photonics, optical systems, or other industrial markets.
  • Bachelor's in related field or equivalent experience required.

REPORTING AND LOCATION:
  • This position may involve travel in order to support trade shows and customer visits within the United States and internationally.
  • This position may be based in Boulder, CO or Albuquerque, NM or remote and reports to the Director of Strategic Marketing of Optical Technologies.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:
  • Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 annually
  • Bonus: This position is eligible for company discretionary bonus

This position may require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship or US Permanent Residence.
