JOB DESCRIPTION

Our team is looking for a passionate Managing Director to help build our fast-growing government business. As the Managing Director, Government, you will lead Dcode’s Government Team, building and managing our multi-million dollar government business, supporting our existing government network, generating new contracts with federal agencies, and managing the delivery of client work that includes workshopping and advisory services to help government leaders get better tech into mission. The ideal candidate has previous federal business management experience and a proven track record of building, launching, and scaling business lines through results-driven leadership and pure scrappiness. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic and Operational Planning and Execution

  • Serve as a core member of Dcode’s leadership team to drive a comprehensive, all-of-Dcode approach to success, working directly with C-suite and other team leaders 
  • Develop and implement the strategy for the Government team’s growth, that catalyzes success and drives cascading value to other business units, such as connecting our portfolio of tech companies to government use cases
  • Establish and iterate processes for pipeline development and sales, client/agency onboarding, customer success/management, contract management, and reporting
  • Identify and develop new product offerings and programs that Dcode can sell to government clients
  • Manage all aspects of the government business line P&L, to include rate/cost build up, staffing, resource utilization, and budget management, etc.

Business Development and Capture

  • Lead the business development team to implement a scalable growth strategy for our government business
  • Expand the availability of Dcode’s offerings to the government by further developing our contracting vehicle footprint
  • Identify and close new strategic government clients in civilian, DoD, and Intelligence Community agencies 
  • Strategically develop and implement a partnering and teaming strategy
  • Refine processes to leverage research on agency budgets, technology needs, trend reports, and solicitations to support and inform Dcode contract opportunities 
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute an outreach and communication strategy to future and existing clients
  • Oversee the Dcode capture and proposal processes to increase our win rate

Client Success

  • Lead the customer success teams, focused on delivery of Dcode’s advisory services, including government-focused tech scouting, senior leader workshops, innovation advisory services, and events 
  • Mature contract delivery processes and operating procedures 
  • Maniacally focus on achieving positive outcomes for our customers
  • Oversee and develop relationships with senior government leaders to establish Dcode as a trusted advisor
  • Measure effectiveness of client success through metrics and data to increase future lifetime value 

Supervisory

  • Manage the growth of Government Team, to include finding and hiring amazing talent to support growth goals
  • Be a mentor-driven leader that supports the growth and professional development of both the Government team and all Dcoders

One Dcode Approach

  • Support cross-functional teams to drive success across all Dcode teams and our entire community 
  • Aggregate priorities and needs of government clients in a way that facilitates connections and success with technology companies and commercial partners 
  • Set and track team performance against Dcode-wide goals 
Key Skills

You’ll learn something new every day in this role, and no two days will look exactly the same. We’ll teach you the ropes but ideal candidates will have/be:

  • 13+ years of work experience
  • Prior experience in business development in a consulting role or managing large government projects and teams
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence to overcome challenges and drive team engagement
  • An ability to listen to customers, discern needs, and understand how that ties back to the full Dcode business model
  • The ability to work without being closely managed and continuously ‘wow’
  • Proven problem-solving, self-management, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and development with working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Efficient, resilient, and flexible
