Job Responsibilities

As Manager, you and your team will be responsible for the purchasing and supplier management necessary to ensure the continued success of our Global Networks and Technology business area. You will coordinate, communicate, and influence across multiple internal departments (Program Management, Engineering, Planning, Quality, Legal, etc.) to ensure seamless supply performance from our key external partners. As the key owner of supply continuity for the business you will ensure delivery, costs, and overall compliance are in line with Viasat expectations. A successful candidate for this role will have an innate drive for continuous improvement, problem solving, leadership, and accountability. With global growth anticipated at Viasat, it is vital to be always finding a better way to support the scalability necessary for Viasat to be the first truly worldwide ISP in the coming years. You will also:

  • Ensure supplier performance meets committed schedules, budgets, terms and conditions
  • Ensure flawless and efficient execution of Viasat's procurement processes.
  • Manage the processes and tools for the team.
  • Develop, manage, and implement new sourcing strategies by working with various stakeholders and the supply market to introduce new products and services.
  • Provide oversight and approval of supplier management approaches and negotiation strategies.
  • Manage and deploy procurement improvement initiatives.
  • Work with the cross functional business stakeholders to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Lead, develop and motivate employees.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Operations, Supply Chain, or related experience
  • 7+ years' experience in Supply Chain Management roles showing continuous career growth
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Continuous Improvement and Process Implementation experience (DMAIC, Lean Mfg., Kaizen)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of procurement principles & supplier management process experience
  • Possess a working knowledge of manufacturing principles, particularly in the technology industry
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to present to Senior Leadership. Will need to successfully interact with peers and all levels of management within the organization.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite of business software is required: Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • US government position. US citizenship required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.



Preferences

  • New Product Introduction, Space, Aerospace, or Electronics program-related experience
  • 3+ years of team management
  • MBA
  • Institute for Supply Management (ISM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.
  • Solid understanding of Federal and Defense contracting requirements (DFAR/FAR/ITAR)
