Basic Function

The Manager, Organizational Change Management provides operational leadership that defines, establishes and maintains standards, methodologies, processes and templates for end-to-end organizational change management and operational excellence in the global information technology services organization. The incumbent has the expanded role to shape and lead broader communications to the enterprise for the ITS organization.

The Manager, Organizational Change Management is a business savvy ITS leader who works with ITS and business leaders to shape and influence the business demand for ITS change management services which ensure LYB organizations are ready, willing, and able to function in a new business environment. This key strategy drives ITS solution adoption to sustain and improve business performance and reduce operating expenses across the Lyondellbasell Company. The Organizational Change Management Manager ensures the establishment of a scable world-class continuous improvement and quality service program for the global ITS project/programs. The incumbent's ownership of the ITS internal communications and processes develops strategy and of marketing and technical communications materials content for a global organization.

Operational Excellence is a primary focus at LYB and internal ITS process improvements is at the heart of safe, reliable and efficient operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Manager, Organizational Change Management reports to the Director of Strategy, PMO, and Change Management and will oversee and govern the establishment of scalable methodologies, processes, and tools to produce world-class organizational change management, operational excellence (including continuous improvement, quality assurance, and results management) and communications services for the information technology organization.

The Manager, Organizational Change Management will direct an organization up to 8 employees.

Specific areas of responsibility and influence include:

  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversees the development and implementation of a quality assurance policy, program, and review process
    • Owns end-to-end processes of operational excellence including continuous improvement, quality service program, post implementation review, i.e., results management - managing, tracking and reporting project results in comparison to the approved business case
    • Provides processes, standards, systems, and structure to emphasize quality and provide best-in-class in ITS products and services
    • Lead a disciplined team to have a relentless commitment to apply quality systems and standards to continually ensure the quality of processes and deliverables to maximize output and efficiency.
    • Develops and tracks operational metrics for the quality assurance function.
    • Ensure all services provided by ITS are free from any flaws or errors; Reduce waste during production process; Maximize output and efficiency.
    • Evaluate and improve QA processes; Identify possible errors and areas of improvement.
    • Ensures development and maintenance of Continuous Improvement and (post implementation review) Results Management processes, standards, templates and tooling; including implementation of defined Continuous Improvement actions
  • Communications:
    • Provides comprehensive ITS communications consulting and coordination
    • Ensures the development and maintenance of communication templates, tool, and facilitation of ITS Communication events
    • Partner with global ITS teams to ensure communications plans target audiences receive, understand and act on the internal ITS and business messages at the right time
    • Serves as a strategic advisor to develop and implement a unified approach to identifying and addressing change management needs across the organization
  • Change Management
    • Develop, implement and manage ITS-wide change management services and methodologies to support the successful delivery of initiatives for the stakeholder community with effective benefit analysis, risk management, inclusive of impacts to people, processes/business objectives and technology targeted communication and training plans
    • Partners with project sponsors, business/ITS leaders, and project team to recommend and implement change management interventions
    • Develops and disseminates education materials to develop basic change management skills for all leaders
    • Draws on research and information on emerging trends in change management to develop, support, and ensure innovative interventions to meet the Company's needs
    • Oversee the change management portfolio and monitor potential scheduling and project conflicts (partner)

Min. Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree in business, human resources, organizational behavior, Change Leadership or related field; an MBA or other advanced degree is an advantage
  • Ten or more years overall experience, with at least seven years in leadership, in the design and delivery of transformational business impacts, Continuous Improvement, and quality programs
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience implementing change management interventions across a range of initiatives
  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational change, implementing, leading and managing broad-based, enterprise-wide OCM projects
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively consult and train or educate various levels of an organization on change management, quality assurance and continuous improvement interventions
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Proven problem solving and root cause identification skills.
  • Persistence and a strong focus on deliverables, balanced with excellent teamwork, listening skills and diplomacy.
  • Adept at working in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency.
  • A strong attention to detail while maintaining strategic focus.
  • A creative thinker who can recommend and implement process improvements.
  • External change management certification (e.g. Prosci, Kotter) preferred.


This position conducts business in more than one country or in areas/communities that have strong, unique ethnic/cultural traditions. Domestic and international travel of 15-30% is anticipated.
