PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Plan and manage resources, finances, services, and scope within the UNIX/Linux Engineering team. Manage activities around large scale application deployments and implementations. Manage and deliver cloud and on-prem Unix/Linux service that is standardized, automated and highly available with a customer centric focus. Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships for collaboration with technical managers and architects, as well as various vendors and partners. Participate in developing and implementing strategy/policy, with a focus on automation and zero touch models in support of business operation. Manage a team of highly skilled engineers to develop and maintain a large scale, highly complex environment, while mitigating change management risk in support of daily operations and the delivery support of projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and manage IT staff and resources in accordance with Exelon policy and IT Business Plans. For operations & maintenance: Plan and manage service to meet and or exceed the established service level agreements and operational metrics within the approved budgets.
  • Operate utilizing standard processes as defined within the Management Model. Oversee process improvement efforts and ensure adoption of standard processes and procedures that deliver sustainable top quadrant cost and performance levels.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners. Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including a focus on the Customer experience to deliver business value.
  • Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning processes. Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization. Provide input on development and retention processes for IT employees.
  • Work with various Architects to continuously develop and maintain the Unix/Linux Service offering strategy is well defined and planned to ensure our customers always have access to the latest industry offerings.
  • Prepare and manage budget for area of responsibility

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 8 to 10 years experience in (add area(s) of technical specialty) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Appropriate technical skills (add specifics here). PMP certification preferred for specific roles as per guidelines established by the IT Project Management Office.
  • Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in (add specifics here).
  • Experience leading and managing IT projects or subteams and knowledge of IT project management.
  • Experience leading and managing technical personnel.
  • Strong judgment and excellent analytical ability.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.
  • Experience managing budgets for functional area of responsibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree.
  • Project Management certification.
