The IT Demand & Capacity Manager position will support the capacity, prioritization, and demand for the Pacific West Optum Care Technology teams. Candidates must demonstrate problem solving and analytics skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively at various levels in the organization. The role requires the management of the resource capacity models and demand management reporting with continuous customer engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in designing demand prioritization, resource capacity models and reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage IT intake and demand via a centralized set of tools, processes, and meetings cadence
  • Partner with IT resource managers to refine and manage IT resource capacity models
  • Engage with IT partners in technology planning, delivery and understanding business demands/requirements
  • Provides reports and dashboards to provide transparency into IT demand backlog, metrics, and current intake pipeline
  • Facilitates and actively participates in Demand prioritization meetings with appropriate stakeholder groups
  • Reports to and consults with upper management and executives, as needed, to help drive strategic direction and tactical business needs
  • Performs complex administrative and analytical tasks in support of the IT department
  • Manages and is responsible for the successful completion of all demand-related tasks
  • Assist stakeholders and provide overall direction around their demand needs
  • Perform the day-to-day operations around demand and project management initiation tasks
  • Identify and drive service improvements within the demand and capacity processes
  • Assist in budget related, demand funnel and pre-project planning
  • Track overall status of projects for tracking progress against the demand/capacity plans and reporting to leadership
  • Evaluate and document current intake processes and define alternative intake methodologies
  • Maintain visibility to and represent all aspects of the work intake and demand management processes within the SDLC including financial planning and costing, resource availability management, capacity planning, work tracking and delivery, and supplier/vendor engagement
  • Participates in special projects as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Technology experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Project Management Office, including setting strategy, governing a large IT organization, and enforcing policies
  • 2+ years of resource utilization tracking and management and reporting
  • 2+ years of demand management
  • Ability to work as a team player with technology leaders to drive strategy and continue to build, develop, and mature the IT organization
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and solution business process needs as it relates to overall company and IT Strategy
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to deliver quality presentations to large group and confidently project IT in a positive manner
  • Ability to work effectively inside technical and business environments
  • Knowledge of new technologies and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, other related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Demonstrated solid analytical and problem-solving skills: proven ability to identify problems and risks, analyze details, propose solution options, and then implement needed changes
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, creative, and efficient in identifying issues, understanding, and proposing solutions
  • Experience in analyzing metrics, designing reports and use of different reporting tools - Power BI, Tableau, etc. Data visualization, SQL
  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Quickly adaptable to changing processes and requirements
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a team environment
  • Solid time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Solid customer facing skills with an ability to interact in confidence with clients
  • Solid written and verbal communications including the ability to interact with colleagues at all organizational levels
  • Ability to effectively communicate results to management and provide analytics; the "so what"
  • Solid presentation skills
