General Information Technology work involves managing or performing work across multiple areas of an organization's overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration of: • IT Systems Software, Hardware, and Databases • Data & Voice Networks • Data Processing Operations • End User Technology & Software Support Conducts cost/benefit analyses for proposed IT projects as input to the organization's IT roadmap. A Manager manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Responsibilities typically include: • Ability to organize and manage projects into a program or portfolio for proper resource coordination and scope definition. • Able to leverage relationships with leadership throughout the organization to resolve conflict and issues as they arise. • Able to leverage experience to manage larger, more complex projects and programs. • Policy and strategy implementation for short-term results (1 year or less). • Problems faced are difficult to moderately complex. • Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.

The Manager IT is a critical role within the Sentara Organization. The Program Manager is responsible for the overall management of their assigned Program(s) which will consist of multiple (often 10 or more) related IT projects. The Program Manager will work with Business Relationship Managers ("BRMs") leads and Project Managers to drive component project intake as well as program delivery. To support these activities, will work closely with Sentara Health employees and contractors to ensure quality completion of business requirements, scope, end user impact, Program dependencies, financials and transition to operations activities for the Service Line. A critical element of the Program Manager role will be to coach Project Managers in Project Delivery excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • May lead a team of Project Managers (may be internal FTE or purchased labor PM staff).
  • Provides advice, counsel, and insight to PMs on how to more effectively lead projects to completion. Serve as a champion and advocate for the IT PM Methodology and assist teams with adoption.
  • Experience in managing complex/extensive projects including involvement with multiple cross functional teams required.
  • Assume responsibility for the Program's people and vendors
  • Manage Program performance at Service Line management level, with IT Service Line PMs
  • Manages Program budget by forecasting requirements, preparing budget, analyzing variances and initiative corrective actions
  • Mentor and develop PM skills, and ensure Program and PMs comply with PMO processes
  • Assess Program performance and aim to maximize ROI and value acceleration
  • Serve as initial point of component project escalation, escalate to IT leaders/PMO
  • Create and assist in executing risk mitigation/corrective action
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicator (KPI) metrics and trends. Prepare reports for the Program.
  • Participates behind the scenes to craft solutions for business problems related or tangential to the project with executive sponsors and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Regularly makes decisions and takes independent action on matters directly affecting strategic goals. Guides staff and Project managers in learning and applying useful decision-making approaches.
  • Partners with sponsors in understanding and creating opportunities and in making timely choices. Participates in strategy development.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 10 years Project Management Experience
  • IAM implementation experience. 7 years plus.
  • Proactively identify gaps or conflicts in existing processes and work to develop solutions.
  • Develop project plans, including solution overview, project scope, project timeline, responsibility matrix, and communication plan to ensure efficient and effective execution of compliance related projects.
  • Thrives in an ambiguous environment.
