Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Provide leadership to a team of Identity Access Management (IAM) professionals to ensure the secure and timely provisioning of National General's information assets. Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures for administration of the full identity lifecycle to include provisioning, termination, and user access reviews. Support audit and assessment activities for PCI, HITRUST, SOX, SOC2 and others as related to Identity Access Management. Ensure department adherence to strategies, goals, budgets, operating policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mentors, guides and coaches security administrators for technical and leadership growth.
  • Develop required capability and skillsets of all IAM team members.
  • Establishes, aggregates, and shares team standards and best practices across department.
  • Recruits, hires and manages talent, ensuring the right mix of skillsets within the team.
  • Responsible to monitor and mentor team to meet desired output and any established SLAs.
  • Ensures the timely system provisioning of new hire access, terminations and employee status changes as per established Policy, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Oversees user access review processes
  • Participates in various security audit and assessment initiatives including the generation of evidence and participation in interviews conducted by auditors or other security assessment personnel
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends appropriate IAM solutions
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders such as leaders, consultants, and business teams in order to share best practice, identify potential process improvements and liaise with other working areas during projects or other initiatives
  • Conduct industry and market research and maintain a working knowledge of technologies and emerging trends in the discipline
  • Produce & Review daily, weekly, monthly reports to measure services against key performance indicators.
  • Establish, document and communicate IAM services, capabilities, policies and procedures to key IAM stakeholders and consumers
  • Utilize effective leadership skills to successfully carry out IAM activities and the overall information security mission
  • Maintain and update IAM policies, procedures and standards.


Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree, equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 7+ years of experience in an IAM or IT Security focused role such as: supporting user access management, user provisioning, de-provisioning and change processes.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Strong customer support experience
  • Strong knowledge of user management principles within Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of multiple security and compliance frameworks: NIST, FISMA, HIPAA, HITRUST, SOX, PCI, SOC2
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate IAM related risks and concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical groups
