Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Operations Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations and short/long-term planning for the groups they manage. They manage manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, EH&S, shipping/receiving, etc. focusing on the development of technologies and continuous improvement and translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes.

A Day in the Life

  • Provides overall vision and strategy, for the manufacturing operations team.
  • Executes the strategy through a clear Management Operating System, using leading indicator metrics to evaluate and steer the team's improvement activities.
  • Ensure that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed, if needed development of new ones.
  • Manage, monitor and report on capacity requirements to ensure the staffing levels support both cost and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and report on material requirements, working closely with the Materials team to ensure the production line does not go line down.
  • Assure product quality by monitoring the performance data and initiating appropriate improvement projects.
  • Understanding of quality documentation and participate in customer and regulatory audits.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing engineering groups to ensure process productivity each year.
  • Lead the supervisors to utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to solve problems and improve performance.
  • Participate in operation and project review meetings.
  • Develop strong training requirements and ensure effective cross training for the operations is completed to ensure high flexibility by the team.
  • Maintain data for on-time delivery, Yield, and shop floor performance metrics and work with functional team
  • Provide training, mentoring, and on-going support to manufacturing Supervisors and team members.
  • Daily review of production schedules
  • Schedule overtime as necessary in order to achieve customer schedules while balancing costs.
  • Provide reports and updates on performance measurements.
  • Coordinate activities within Operations to achieve daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals.
  • Anticipate and determine causes of delays in manufacturing operations and take appropriate action to meet shipping schedules.


What your background should look like:

  • Bachelors Degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Masters Degree or higher or local equivalent a plus.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems which require high degree of ingenuity and innovation.
  • Adapts precedents and traditional approaches to develop solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems and inventory practices of electronic manufacturing
  • Knowledge of MRP II and ERP concepts
  • Ability to use personal computers and software in a variety of functions including MS Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Systems and Problem Solving (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing Preferred)
  • Ability to work within dynamic environment with customer delivery pressure
  • Analyze data from various sources to arrive at planning requirements
  • Strong team leader and team organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Innovation and Creativity, strong vision and goals orientation


This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
