Job Description
As the Manager of Consumer Affairs Public Policy, you will work as part of the Global Public Policy / Government Relations Team in support of the Decision Solutions and Compliance Teams, furthering the growth of FIS' business. You will play a leading role in providing strategic policy advice about how privacy, safety, and other consumer protection regulatory risks are evolving; identifying opportunities and approaches to mitigate those risks; supporting the creation of policy-related thought leadership, and engaging with external stakeholders on relevant regulatory developments (e.g. trade association meetings, preparing responses to regulatory consultations). The role will report to the Manager of Public Policy, Americas on the Government Relations Team.

Core roles & Key Duties
The Manager will:

  • Monitor, identify and analyze the federal and state legislative and regulatory trends, developments and risks surrounding consumer affairs issues, including but not limited to privacy, consumer rights and protection, and financial inclusion.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state and federal agencies that regulate privacy, safety, and other aspects of consumer protection policy, as well as relevant Congressional oversight committees and industry associations.
  • Identify implications and opportunities for FIS and its customers.
  • Communicate key strategic and tactical implications to senior management and other key internal stakeholders.
  • Further business objectives through direct engagement with policymakers, regulators, FIS Clients and external stakeholders as well as indirect through trade associations and other industry bodies. Assist with client communications efforts regarding timely regulatory policy developments.
  • Develop - for the Decision Solutions and Compliance Teams and in conjunction with Marketing - thought leadership, education and advocacy strategies for consumer education initiatives, including by developing content for public presentations or policymaker briefings and engagements.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to generate comment letters and official responses to key regulatory and other policymaking consultations.
  • Engage and influence external stakeholders on relevant regulatory initiatives (e.g. trade association meetings, preparing responses to regulatory consultations).


What You Bring

  • Five to ten years of public policy experience in the area of consumer protection, financial services, fintech and/or other technology businesses. Experience can be from federal or state government/regulator, consultancy and/or in-house corporate public policy / government relation function.
  • Experience in consumer reporting such as working with or for a consumer reporting agency or regulator, or strong familiarity with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
  • A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic qualification (law/economics/public policy/business administration)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with limited managerial direction.
  • Adaptable and resourceful, and able to work both independently and collaboratively as appropriate.
  • Able to consistently exercise sound judgment and understand the broader commercial and regulatory environment in which FIS operates.
  • Have an interest in consumer education, protection and financial inclusion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate information effectively internally and externally and to drive cross-functional alignment and action.
