Job Description

Manager – Cloud Economics

2nd Watch has an opening for a Manager-Cloud Economics to join our team! This role will be responsible for managing, coaching, and mentoring the Client Analyst team and the day-to-day operations and service delivery activities, including dashboard development and presentation, and analyzing cloud-based customer usage patterns for trends and variances supporting overall optimization of customer spend.

Additionally, the Cloud Economics Manager will act as the central point of contact between the Technical Optimization and Data Platform groups ensuring client Optimization, Dashboard, Monthly Reporting requirements are managed, tracked, prioritized, and delivered as per the cadence and program structures defined for each targeted client engagement. The role will also facilitate providing meaningful insights to internal business units and/or customers directly as part of ongoing managed services, consulting engagements, or management needs.

This Manager will also assist with the appropriate 2nd Watch teams in the expansion of our Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) supporting actionable intelligence to internal business units and our customers.

Scope and Accountability

· Manage team responsible for collaborating with the enterprise sales and post sales account managers to assist in providing cost optimization recommendations for clients as requested by account managers and as part of the Optimization Team.

· Manage team responsible for collaborating with sales teams to provide analytics and business value cases for products related to cost optimization and future product features targeted at Cloud provider billing file consumption or utilization KPI’s.

· Manage team responsible for collaborating with cross functional stakeholders on monthly dashboards, reports, Financial and Margin analytics, including margin and profitability by client.

· Primary liaison working closely with 2nd Watch teams managing data flows from a variety of systems into the EDL and support the development of data analytics as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience

· Set vision, mission, and goalsfor the Client Analyst team

· Measure and adapt to results through quantitative and qualitative measures of value, outcome, velocity, engagement, and satisfaction.

· Develop and grow the team through training, mentoring, and coaching in your team and across the technology organizatioTake ownership and partner with the Product organization to build optimization solutions 2W and help to enable sales

· Expertise with public cloud billing concepts, services, typical spend patterns, and cost saving tactics

· Direct experience with AWS, Azure and GCP bill file formats is preferred

· Experience and comfort with building and delivering presentations to clients, or external audiences

· Ability to work with customers to understand current and emerging usage / cost savings needs and translate into product requirements.

· Strong understanding of the public cloud providers, their products, costing mechanisms and applicable use cases, best practices and implementation, and support considerations.

· Partner with the sales team to formulate and execute a sales strategy to exceed revenue objectives through the adoption of Optimization best practices.

· Collaborate with customers on migrating existing systems and building new systems using the Optimization technologies.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

· 5 + years’ experience managing teams responsible for managing and implementing cloud technologies.

· 5 + years in progressively more responsible roles in either solutions architecture, IT Management, or IT professional services

· 5+ years’ experience in developing and presenting cloud financial management based recommendations such as ROI and maximizing constrained resources.

· Demonstrated ability to learn new and complex technologies so that concepts can be communicated at all levels of the organization

· Experience in data visualization tools such as Power BI strongly desired.

· Honed data analytical skills and the ability to use data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns

· Highly developed communication skills with the ability to communicate with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements

· One or more relevant industry recognized certifications preferred

· General knowledge of areas of business operations beyond IT.

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

· Public profile or proven record of public speaking at relevant tech events.

· Solid problem-solving abilities coupled with a desire to take on responsibility.

· Ability to work with customers to understand current and emerging business needs and translate into product requirements.

· Conduct “hands-on” education/training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering, or already using, a cloud provider.

· Author or contribute to customer-facing publications such as whitepapers, tutorials, etc., and present sessions customer and industry conferences.

· Outstanding oral and written communication skills, problem solving and analytical skills

· Demonstrated ability in variance analysis

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel with advanced skills working with Pivot Tables and complex formulas

· Basic SQL skills including but not limited to CTE and joins

· Understanding of data warehousing concepts

· Experience with modern ISV optimization tools such as CloudHealth, Densify, or Cloudability is preferable.
