Department Profile

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office.

The Reliability Operations with in WMT is responsible for providing swift, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service to end users of the production systems. This position is focused on user and systems support, answering hotline calls, monitoring systems alerts, and taking corrective action. Technical understanding is important as well as the ability to speak to users and understand their problems. In addition to direct user support tasks, the team performs infrastructure related tasks including process configuration, hardware capacity planning, event management, release work, and support tool development to ensure any repetitive tasks are packaged to remove any element of risk.

Position Description
• The Wealth Management Production Support position. Highly skilled Application Support Analyst providing L2- L3 and patching support in high-volume environments.

Scope includes but not limited to, the day-to-day support of the organizations technology related outages, collaboration on technology projects focused on stability, optimization, business impact analysis, and associated risk-related methodologies.
• As a team member with expertise in deep analytical triage, you will provide subject matter expertise in debugging, issue analysis and troubleshooting, working with business and technical colleagues to provide reviews and recommendations to avoid any future application issues. Produce guidance documentation, standards and procedures, training material including working with the various application and infrastructure support teams to document every single troubleshooting step in Morgan Stanley knowledge base system to resolve issues in a faster time frame.

Qualifications:

Qualification / Skills Required
• Unix / Linux: Experience of supporting Unix based applications including experience troubleshooting in a Unix environment.
• SQL/Databases (MSSQL/Teradata/DB2): Understanding of tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures, and the ability to understand them by reading their definitions. Familiarity with SQL constructs. Understanding of transactions, query plan analysis. Ability to wright any queries on the fly during issues resolution and user inquiries.
• Experience of data warehousing environments such as Teradata and Oracle.

Knowledge on Teradata explains plans to analyze the queries, return them as efficient code, to improve the performance for high volumes of data.
• Experience in web-based application development using Java, .NET, C# Technologies.
• Shell Scripting: Ability to write a shell script from scratch and ability to understand existing scripts by looking at them.
• Experienced in Back End development using Java.
• Experienced in Back End development using .NET Core.
• Experienced in Back End development using C#.
• Shell Scripting: Ability to write a shell script from scratch and ability to understand existing scripts by looking at them.
• General Software Skills: Understanding of source code management concepts and experience with at least one source code control tool.
• Autosys: Ability to create and debug Autosys jobs and dependencies. Ability to analyze a complex job stream and correct any inconsistencies, errors or omissions and point out potential problems.
• SSIS: Ability to create jobs and understand dependencies. Ability to analyze a complex job stream and correct any inconsistencies, errors or omissions and point out potential problems.
• Splunk : Ability to create Splunk queries and debug Splunk Logs.
• Ability to setup alerting via Watchtower, Check Nanny, Sockeye.
• Windows: Basic understanding of the Windows environment.
• Experience working in an Agile Development / SRE environment.
• Proven ability to understand and troubleshoot complex problems under pressure.
• Hands-on experience administering large-scale, high-availability systems and the tools to monitor performance and availability.
• Excellent communication and writing skills specific to technical discussions .
• Experience with incident on call and ability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.

Skills Desired
• 5-10 years' experience in banking and/or Financial Services experience supporting or developing transaction based systems.
• Proven ability to understand and troubleshoot complex problems under pressure.
• Ability to think creatively, proactively, and independently (meeting facilitation, reporting, managing sensitive data).
• Knowledge of Service Now tool for Incidents, Tasks, Problem management.
• Ability to establish/ maintain effective work relationships with co-workers, clients, members, vendors and customers.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
