Amplify is seeking an experienced education leader who will deliver high-quality professional development for our school and district partners and coach a regional cohort of Professional Learning Specialists (PLSs) so that they are prepared to do the same. The Lead PLS will hire, onboard and provide regular development opportunities for PLSs to successfully achieve performance targets and ensure high customer satisfaction with our training sessions. They will also establish and implement thoughtful development and performance related systems so that the PLSs in a region experience continuous growth, engagement and fulfillment.
Location: Regional and national in-person session delivery is required. States include NY, NJ, MD, CT, DE, MA, DC, OH, IN, WV, PA, MI, IL, WI, MN, IA
All Lead Professional Learning Specialists must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Currently, wearing masks and following social distancing guidelines are at the discretion of session participants and the Lead Professional Learning Specialist (unless a school partner requests for all in attendance to wear masks).
Responsibilities of the Lead Professional Learning Specialist, STEM:

  • Fulfill all responsibilities of a Professional Learning Specialist role, including delivering onsite and remote professional development sessions for groups of up to 30-40 educators, coaching individuals and small groups of educators through a wide range of strategies, and leading office hours for school, district and state partners
  • Provide input and articulate the success metrics for professional development delivery to all regional PLSs
  • Coach and manage a regional cohort of PLSs, including modeling and observing delivery of onsite and remote sessions and providing actionable feedback
  • Review post-session survey data for the regional cohort of PLSs on a regular basis (ex. daily during the months of June to September) in order to identify key trends in customer feedback and to provide meaningful feedback to PLSs
  • Communicate key trends in post-session survey data to Amplify's PD leaders and executive leaders
  • Create and implement targeted learning plans for individual PLSs and the regional cohort that will align with the latest key trends in post-session survey data, respond to customer feedback and include coaching best practices (ex. observation and debrief, modeling, peer practices, written and live feedback, etc.)
  • Maintain clear up-to-date information about individual PLSs' and the regional PLS cohort's needs, goals and challenges
  • Be available to PLSs when they have questions related to session delivery, want to debrief a training or need additional support in maintaining trust and successfully managing customer relationships (ex. joining customer conversations to better understand their needs and goals or conducting mock customer conversations)
  • Contribute to effectively recruiting, interviewing and hiring new PLSs
  • Collaborate with Amplify's PD team to execute a scalable, cost-effective and comprehensive onboarding plan for new PLSs
  • Collaborate with other Lead PLSs and the broader Amplify PD team to provide ongoing learning and development opportunities to regional PLSs
  • Collaborate with Amplify's PD Operations, PD Partnership Management and broader regional team to ensure appropriate assignments for regional PLSs
  • Support team and department-wide initiatives and special projects as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager
  • Regular travel required; average 60% or more during summer delivery season


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of K-8 classroom teaching experience
  • Strong professional development delivery skills, as evidenced by performance data (i.e., a NPS of 60 or above)
  • Knowledgeable about Amplify's products
  • Experience managing and developing high-performance teams by setting goals, identifying individual and team learning needs, and facilitating growth opportunities aligned to these areas of need
  • Expertise in analyzing key data trends and next steps in order to increase efficiency
  • Experience developing and managing large-scale projects in an education setting, including creating detailed plans, forecasting and meeting deadlines, and maintaining a budget
  • Experience, at scale, designing and delivering in-person and remote professional development sessions and coaching supports
  • Proficiency in use of technology-based productivity tools such as Microsoft, Google Applications, etc. and demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Exemplary communication skills over various channels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple concurrent requests.
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally (per travel policy)
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs. (transporting presenter kits)
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have been a Professional Learning Specialist or in an Amplify coaching role for 6+ months
  • Instructional leadership experience as a coach or school leader
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker
  • Experience working with diverse student populations (English learners, SPED, Gifted/Talented, etc.)
  • Demonstrated client/partnership management experience
  • Master's or Advanced Degree in Education
