Overview: Lead Network Specialist
Primary Function Provides the planning, design, acquisition and implementation of the company's voice and data network services. Evaluates business requirements to develop and implement solutions. Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons. Performs traffic study analysis to determine best configuration of systems Manages infrastructure related to voice and data networks including related hardware and software to ensure availability, recoverability, performance, integrity and supportability through production support and maintenance of existing network and development and implementation of network enhancements All positions in this job family participate, to some degree, in the following activities: Production Support - administering, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring, enhancing and providing advanced customer support for the existing voice / data network system Deployment / Implementation - planning and executing network designs. configurations or enhancements to existing voice and data network services Design - researching, recommending and designing new technologies, new configurations and enhancements to existing voice and data networks; providing consulting advice to customers on the capabilities of the network environment
Qualifications:
- Experience: Eight (8) years of relevant technical or business work experience
- Required Education: Bachelors degree in related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experience
- Other: Additional Requirements Experience with IP networks and internet technologies Experience and exposure to complex technical environments (i.e., Cisco, hardware, Network communication protocols, LAN, WAN and wireless technology, Wintel/Unix system requirements, and VoIP technologies) Experience with VOIP and advanced routing protocols Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Skilled in Project Management, has ability to manage small to intermediate projects and a network/ telecommunications project team approach
