Summary:

This position will perform and oversee a variety of key functions to design, implement, monitor and maintain Big Data/Hadoop solutions ensuring they are available, reliable, and stable in a highly secure environment. This position will serve as the technical lead to projects that are large and/or complex in nature and will work closely with Business Partners, Project Leads, IT architects and Data Scientists as well as provide mentorship to new team members and provide technical guidance to the rest of the team and management though documentation, presentations and training as required.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for technical leadership for infrastructure design, configuration, installation, availability & security for Hadoop related systems
  • Applies advanced judgment & analysis in the evaluation, selection, installation, and maintenance of software and hardware systems that enable a variety of analytics, AI, Machine Learning, and other "Big Data" use cases
  • Leads performance & capacity planning, providing recommendations to management to sustain forecasted business growth needs
  • Work directly with internal Big Data Architect & Technical Review Board to assure all systems are in line with the long term IT strategy
  • Leads the team to develop and communicate a technical vision that is easily understood by all levels of management
  • Collaborate with technical peers at Honeywell Corporate and other sites within the National Security Enterprise in support of the NNSA Mission
  • Work directly with vendor professional services and technical support as required to ensure that supporting operating systems are compliant with applications, including required patch levels, hot fixes, and revisions
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of ability to perform analysis of competing technologies and products
  • Other duties as required


You Must Have:

  • U.S. Citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept. of Energy "Q"-level security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Physical Science, or related field
  • Five or more years of combined experience in Linux/Hadoop Administration

  • Hadoop Certifications
  • Extensive understanding of Hadoop ecosystem technologies (Apache Spark, HDFS, Hive, Ambari/Cloudera Manager, Ranger, Atlas, NiFi, Zeppelin)
  • Advanced knowledge of specific operating systems (Linux), servers, and shell scripting
  • Demonstrated knowledge with databases (SQL, Oracle, NoSQL, Hive, HBase, In Memory)
  • Demonstrated experience with different programming languages (Python, Java, R)
  • Familiarity with data munging tools (RStudio)
  • Knowledge of the setup/configuration of the Hadoop software stack (Cloudera/Hortonworks)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills to partner closely with other Admins, citizen analysts and Data Scientists as well as management
  • Demonstrated experience with Cyber Security design requirements including resolving complex security issues by developing, and implementing innovative technical solutions
  • Demonstrated high and broad level industry knowledge and related best practices
