Job Description
The Lead Director of Informatics will report directly to the Executive Director of Informatics. In this role, the successful candidate needs to be a data storyteller, using all data sources to identify and track early trends. Their mandate is to summarize interesting facts and use data for inspiration for the Population Health team as well as all of Aetna Medicaid Medical Affairs. Those facts and inspiration will become the input for Aetna Medicaid Population Health decision-makers with the successful ideas becoming candidates for more rigorous statistical follow-up and enlargement of opportunities.
The successful candidate will need to utilize available data to maximize ideation while avoiding coming to conclusions beyond the data. The successful candidate will also discourage leaders' overconfidence by emphasizing a multitude of possible interpretations for every insight.
In order to be successful in this role you must exhibit the following:
Knowledge of:• Clinical analytics including quality management, health equity and social determinants of health, and clinical risk approaches and applications• Advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large sets of data from multiple sources• Large health care database structures and data visualization techniques• Health plan structure and decision making processes
Skill In:• Effectively communicating and negotiating across the business and in the external health care environment to share insights and bring order to analytics solutions• Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills• Influencing key decision makers with insightful analytics to guide strategic decision making• Designing value-based purchasing models to drive clinical and quality improvement
Ability To:• Combine the story you think the data are telling you with business understanding and insights to develop actionable intelligence
Required Qualifications
10+ years of related experience
Microsoft SQL: 5+ years of recent experience
Statistical Modeling Software (SAS, R, Python): 5+ years of recent experience

Knowledge of:• The possible impact of managed care clinical intervention programs• The unique clinical needs of the Medicaid population• The impact of social determinants of health and health equity (or lack thereof) on member outcomes• Value-based purchasing to drive clinical and quality improvement
Skill in:• Population health management solution structure and development
Ability To:• Be a trusted consultant and data guide with senior leaders across the organization• Work with state Medicaid agencies to build positive relations and win or maintain business
Education
Masters required, Doctorate preferred
