The Information Technology Specialist (ITS) shall provide technical support for the administration of Information Technology within the Facilities Department of Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) located in New Orleans, LA. This is inclusive of providing support to the MARFORRES overall mission. The ITS's primary mission is to provide support in administering and maintaining facilities hardware and assets, and maintaining records, files, documents, and other assigned projects information, as required. The ITS will ensure proper set up, operation, and maintenance of the assets, and will conduct training sessions on selection, use and design of materials.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of IT Support Specialist, we'll count on you to:
- The ITS shall support MARFORRES G6 and Facilities staff to track workstation system upgrades as new hardware is being issued.
- The ITS shall lead and manage the issuance and return of mobile phones, workstations, and other equipment as required. It is the ITS' responsibility to communicate with Mobility for devices that need repair.
- The ITS shall assist in the development of overall functional and technical requirements and specifications, evaluate, and recommend sources for system components, and track the integration and implementation of applications, databases, networks, and related systems.
- The ITS shall track and place trouble calls or tickets for Facilities network connections, computer equipment and hardware, and printers, and shall make recommendation for systems requirements. It is the ITS' responsibility to ensure all issues are properly addressed in a timely manner.
- The ITS shall provide support to ensure that the network, databases, and hardware are operated, utilized, and maintained in accordance with applicable security policies, procedures, and practices.
- The ITS will assist in developing guidelines on the use of applications and provide formal and informal training to the operational staff. The ITS will identify shortfalls in facilities' security requirements based on current policies, procedures, and technology, and develop and enforce check in/out procedures of facilities' hardware.
- The ITS will demonstrate a thorough understanding and ability to troubleshoot the Facilities network connections, computer equipment and hardware, printers, and suggest recommendations for any innovative system upgrades or requirements that may enhance performance of the system. Additionally, the ITS will provide maintenance and support for network and workstation software and interface with MARFORRES G6 and the Enterprise Service Desk to facilitate repairs.
- The ITS shall update IT inventories internally and in the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) on a quarterly basis. The Contractor shall also assist with the disposal of facilities' IT equipment to approved government disposition services and will provide monthly updates.
- Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Computer Science/MIS-related area or equivalent work experience
- 1 years of experience in technical support of PC, networks and servers
- Excellent working knowledge of personal computer and peripherals
- Experience in systems operations and maintenance
- Working knowledge of Windows 7/10/365 and Windows 2003/2008/2012 Server.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent client service, interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision
- Complete a successful background check, as well as having, or being able to obtain in a reasonable time, the required government clearances to perform the responsibilities HDR has been contracted to perform. In some cases this could mean, but is not limited to a CAC card, network access and/or restricted area badges.
