Position Specific Description

Smile: you've found us! At NextEra Energy, Inc. our people are our greatest asset, and we are looking to grow our IOC Infrastructure Operations Center Tier 2 team. This position will be an integral part of our Infrastructure Operations Center (IOC) team, which provides 24 x 7 x 365 Tier 2 Level enterprise network infrastructure support. The position reports directly to the IOC Technology Leader and the position will be based from the Miami LFO Office.

The IOC supports the NextEra Energy, FPL, Transmission Substation Enterprise-Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), and Grid Systems. The IOC is responsible for the support of IT strategic initiatives such as monitoring, troubleshooting, development, engineering, implementation, and operations of business and grid system infrastructure which include but is not limited to routing and switching, Firewall, VPN, VoIP, Wireless Systems, Energy Management System (EMS), Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Demand Side Management (DSM) systems. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and responding to alerts for various networks, appliances, and applications. They will be engaged as a second level support reacting to alerts, to repair or work with a tier 3 group to resolve issues. The candidate may be required to triage and run a conference bridge until a resolution is found for the IOC. The candidate will troubleshoot customer links, primarily on layers 1-3 of the OSI model, but may occasionally go up to layer 7. The candidate will work on supporting business data circuits, SDWAN Networks, VoIP services, VPNs, Managed Routers, Appliances, and Firewalls.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience (Degree with Network or IT Focus a plus)
  • 3+ years' experience in NOC / Technical / engineering support tasks
  • CCNA or Other IP Certifications Beneficial
  • Work flexible hours, to include 1st and/or 2nd shift
  • Ability to handle multiple changing and conflicting priorities
  • Must be comfortable with Cisco Equipment such as routers / switches
  • Ability to diagnose network alerts, events, or issues
  • Knowledge of systems such as Windows / Linux / Unix / AIX
  • Analytical Thinker, problem solver with attention to detail
  • Practical experience with customer service processes and issues
  • Possess time management and organizational skills
  • Contact Center Experience is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • English is required, bilingual is a plus with ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Experience in MS Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook Teams
  • Experience in Service Now and Change Gear
  • Maintain professionalism when interacting with the customers



Job Overview

Employees in this role provide support 24-hours-per-day, 7-days-per-week, 365-days-per-year for NextEra Energy's, Florida Power and Light utility's (FPLu), and Transmission Substation Enterprise's Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), and Grid Systems. This position supports Information Technology's (IT) strategic initiatives and operations of corporate and grid system infrastructure, including Media Access Controls (MACs) with associated infrastructure and communication systems, and is required to comply with government and industry standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides tiered-level-support on operational issues, new requests, and changes to internal customers and external business partners
  • Monitors, responds to, analyzes, and resolves network hardware, software, and performance problems in a timely and accurate manner
  • Applies knowledge of network components and a broad range of operational experience in troubleshooting network problems
  • Monitors, maintains, and configures Cisco and Nortel routers, switches, wireless access points, and other network appliances
  • Works closely with IT Network Engineers on system and network design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes network traffic, using Qradar, wireshark, network probes, flukes, sniffers, port scans, etc.
  • Performs technical tasks on complex real time operations of Systems Control Center (SCC) projects and daily operations
  • Contributes to optimizing SCC process with minimal supervision
  • Provides support of networks and critical systems, including Network Access Control (NAC) infrastructure, Cisco VoIP, Video and VAN (Vehicle Area Network)
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
