The International Operations Specialist reports to the International Logistics Manager and is responsible for supporting the execution of transportation activities across our international network. This includes a focus on vendor booking performance, reporting, carrier bookings, forecasting, operational efficiencies, and cross functional communications internally and externally. With an emphasis on international operations this role will coordinate activities with our Freight Forwarder, port operations, deconsolidation centers and internal Belk teams of Sourcing, and Supply Chain. The International Operations Specialist will ensure the flow of freight is maintained according to established metrics and standards.

Essential Functions:
• Work with Freight Forwarder, Sourcing and International Logistics Manager on booking exceptions and coordinate required PO updates
• Track vendor booking to forecast accuracy, perform root cause assessments on deviations and identify improvement actions
• Monitor vessel arrivals and ensure containers are allocated and are cleared with US Customs and no holds exist before cargo discharges vessel.
• Identify operational impact of late arriving vessels, including communication to sourcing and ensuring POs flow properly through distribution center.
• Manage PO processes and reports to analyze and support the company's strategy
• Manage the consolidation efforts with offshore freight forwarder on all orders with the objective that all products are delivered on time, to the proper destination at the lowest cost per unit possible
• Works with third party deconsolidation center to ensure freight moves in a timely manner
• Support internal monthly accounting audits
• Audit international freight invoices and ensure timely and accurate payments to carriers
• Support International Logistics Manager to develop processes and reports to analyze and support the international transportation network for on-time and cost performance
• Actively identifies and drives process and cost improvement opportunities
• Special projects and other duties as assigned

Education / Experience Requirements:

Minimum Education & Experience:

• 4-year degree or relevant work experience

• 3 - 5 years previous experience with ocean carrier, freight forwarder or 3PLs

• Prior proven experience in research and analysis

• Experience with international ocean and air freight modes

Preferred Education & Experience:

• 5+ years of international ocean/air freight experience
