Coordinate inpatient, ambulatory, ED, outpatient and/or professional coding activities for the Health Information Management Coding Department or Revenue Cycle Administration to include the evaluation, analysis, trending, and validation of productivity and efficiency of workflow processes. Work closely with HIM and Revenue Cycle Education and Quality Coordinators to ensure accuracy of coded data as it relates to inpatient, outpatient and professional coding. Provides support for manager and/or director as required.

Required Qualifications:

* Minimum of five years experience in health information management or a coding related environment required.

* High school education or equivalent required.

* Post-secondary degree in health information management OR equivalent combination of experience/education (one year of experience equals one year of education) required.

* Focused training with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), Diagnosis and/or DRG coding conventions required.

* Demonstrate analytical abilities to identify and comprehend opportunities for education and system improvements through quality review, observation, data analysis, and interpretation required.

* Expert knowledge in PC based computer software applications such as Microsoft Office required.

* Demonstrate abilities in supervision, statistical reporting, medical terminology, applicable area of accountability including but not limited to: ICD-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS Level II coding conventions, Anatomy and Physiology, Reimbursement Methodologies, Diagnosis Related Group (DRG), Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC), Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), National Coverage Determination (NCD), Local Coverage Determination (LCD), and Charge Description Master (CDM) required.

* UB04 and HCFA 1500 reimbursement knowledge, coding software familiarity and effective written and verbal communication skills required.

* Knowledge of and experience with the use of the DRG/APC encoder and groupers required.

* Demonstrated ability to perform and maintain working relationships within the department and the organization to foster a team environment required.

* Demonstrated ability to exercise independent problem-solving skills and manage job priorities in a self-directed manner required.

* Encoder knowledge required.

* General understanding of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) procedure coding required.

* RHIT, CCS, Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist Physician-based (CCS-P) or similar certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience leading or managing day to day operations of a function or group preferred.

* Prior experience with training, customer service, principles and program development preferred.

* Post secondary degree in health information management preferred.

* Training in ICD10/PCS preferred.

* Knowledge of departmental and organizational specific software and hardware preferred.

* Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.

* Other specific certifications based on area of accountability preferred.
