Our Opportunity


Chewy is seeking a Head of Transportation Special Programs. The Head of Transportation Special Programs will own, develop and drive the strategic vision for our outbound network including regional carrier selection and management. This leader and their team will be responsible for network design, facility/technical requirements, standard operating procedures, integration with network transportation, outbound carrier management and integration with delivery and customer experience teams. This role will work closely with operations, transportation, engineering, delivery experience and customer care teams along with functional support partners (HR, Procurement, Finance, etc.) to establish and implement a long-term strategic vision for our outbound network to enhance the customer experience and support future growth. A successful executive will keep the Customer First, Act Like an Owner, Think Big and Accelerate Time in addition to being focused on both the Team Member and third-party experience. This leader will also need to have an ability to lead autonomously under time constraints and be able to build strong cross-functional teams to deliver outbound solutions.


What You’ll Do


  • Develop and implement outbound network solutions aligned to Chewy’s overarching transportation and customer strategy across multiple functional areas (safety, operations, fulfillment, middle mile, facilities, ops tech, third-party management, HR, procurement, finance, customer/delivery experience, etc.).
  • Own the five-year view and complete portfolio roadmap for outbound logistics in addition to establishing metrics and mechanisms to meet business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain portfolio roadmaps within outbound ensuring physical and technical enhancements along with communicating impact clearly across the organization.
  • Build and drive a high-performing team by hiring exceptional talent, cultivating internal capability and promoting talent that Delivers Results.
  • Utilize data to understand customer and carrier behavior and transform those insights into clear business and technical improvements.
  • Catalyze innovation by understanding market direction and trends to set priorities in collaboration with key partners using industry benchmarks and internal standards.
  • Proven ability to perform in-depth analysis, synthesize results, develop stories, build strategies and make recommendations to business and technical leaders.
  • Design long-term strategies and capabilities to facilitate game-changing innovation, enable growth, unlock incremental profitability and drive executive-level initiatives.


What You’ll Need


  • 10+ years’ experience in transportation logistics with an emphasis on outbound logistics operations.
  • Transportation experience that includes carrier engagement and operations performance management in addition to integration with upstream partners, middle mile trans, ops tech, delivery and customer experience.
  • Proven ability looking at solutions in unconventional ways.
  • Excellent leadership skills including sponsoring/leading cross-functional projects with broad scope and impact outside outbound while promoting teamwork between dependent teams.
  • Ability to do tradeoffs analysis between business objectives with the ability to think systemically. Actively embrace change, challenge the status quo and make recommendations for improvements. Sees and drives potential opportunities and works with shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with all layers in the organization (front-line to senior executives) and ability to develop rapport with other functional leaders inside and outside areas of control to influence decision making.
  • Proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
