The Cyber Assessments Department in the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center is seeking a qualified candidate for a Group Leader (GL) position within our security automation technical capability area. The GL will be a member of the department's leadership team and will be engaged in all aspects of leading and managing a dynamic and growing work program in security automation.The GL's primary role is to serve as coach and mentor and help his or her group members grow, learn, and progress in their MITRE careers.He, she, or they will be the first line supervisor to group members, creating an environment that inspires excellence and reinforcing MITRE's culture of speed, risk-taking, adaptability, and grace and respect. The GL will work in close coordination with the Department Manager (DM) and the department leadership team to recruit and hire top cyber researchers and engineers and to expand the breadth and depth of the department's work in security automation. The GL must be qualified and willing to be a direct contributor within the security automation work program.

Key Responsibilities of the GL role:

  • Mentor and coach employees to maximize their potential in the near- and long-term
  • Engage in ongoing and meaningful development-focused and CLEAR conversations
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning. Be familiar with and share opportunities for development with employees (e.g., new project assignments, training, on-the job learning, mentorship opportunities)
  • Work in partnership with employees to find projects and work that are aligned with L521's focus on security automation, and the employees' skills, interests, and career development goals
  • Promote collaboration and integration with other organizations and programs within the division and across MITRE to expand the breadth and depth of the department's work and provide new opportunities for staff
  • Support the DM in recruitment and hiring activities
  • Reinforce MITRE Labs' and L520's expectations for quality and timely review of employees' products
  • Ensure employees are appropriately awarded and recognized



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of technical leadership experience
  • Understand the missions, domains and challenges of MITRE customers and is fully responsible for deliverables, including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility span
  • Able to define projects or programs greater than him/herself

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.



Required Qualifications:

  • Current Step 4 or Step 5 with previous direct supervisor or relevant experience leading tasks or projects
  • Possess technical expertise and considered a thought leader in cyber security automation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, across sponsors and across MITRE as appropriate, and experience leveraging relationships to benefit staff and work programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Possess and maintain a Secret level security clearance

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$138,500 - $173,000 - $208,000 Annual
