Job Description Summary:

Workplace strategies have been continuing to evolve over the past several years. Due to the pandemic, the change has accelerated and intensified the need for thoughtful planning, even when data is increasingly more challenging to obtain. Cigna's pharmacies and data centers have remained open throughout the pandemic, making the proper use of space at these locations key to both operational productivity and the employee experience. The Workplace Jr Strategist will work within the pharmacy and data center portfolio to align real estate strategies and physical space with the Cigna Business Unit Strategy and enterprise objectives.

This position will be responsible for working with a team tasked with determining site strategy in specific locations. The Jr Strategist consults with members of GRE and Business Unit Teams to understand the requirements for specific locations, propose solutions to meet those needs, and plans to implement those solutions. This position is responsible for gathering accurate information that will enable the GRE team to more efficiently and accurately perform standard tasks as well as bring new insights to assist with decision making. Primary contacts are internal customers within the GRE team, and Leaders within the different business units. The Jr Strategist is a key resource, supporting the lead Strategist of our pharmacy and data center portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Must be able to think critically and guide a team towards a recommendation capturing all project objectives along the way
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels across the enterprise. Can independently support and resolve issues and conflicts.
  • Develops test fits to support GRE and individual business requirements and guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains site strategy documents.
  • Must be able to compose high level and detailed programming documents.
  • Assesses the criticality, value and scope of work for project recommendation.
  • Assesses business needs to determine square footage requirements sometimes with very little supporting documentation.
  • Utilize project tracking tools and systems to accurately document milestone completions, project issues, and overall project completions.
  • Run Project meetings on a regular basis
  • Proactively manage work load and interpret project timelines and impact.
  • Maintain drawing database, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Track, monitor, and oversee moves, adds, and changes
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for all furniture activity
  • Analyze space requirements and provide conceptual space plans and recommendations to real estate team, as well as block and stack plans and move lists for proposed projects
  • Assist with edits to construction documents


The ideal candidate will possess a high level of integrity, creativity, initiative, accountability, communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to teamwork and excellence.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in architecture, interior design, project management or facilities management
  • 2+ years' experience in space planning and test fits.
  • Prior corporate real estate, space management, facility management or project management experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, project tracking databases, CAFM/IWMS Systems
  • A self-starter who is proactive and can work independently in all aspects of the role
  • Demonstrated strong relationship building and team integration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results in uncertain and/ or ambiguous environments
  • Strong analytical, planning, problem identification and resolution skills required
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Fluent Microsoft Office skills -PowerPoint, Excel, etc.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 66,100 - 110,100 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
