Role 

As the Grants Manager, you’ll join the Community Partnerships team in researching, pursuing and administering federal, state and foundation/ philanthropic grants related to mental and behavioral health. You will be primarily responsible for identifying and responding to Requests For Proposals, negotiating contracts, managing and reporting on funded projects. Crisis Text Line is growing its public policy and advocacy footprint, and this role will work closely with and support our Public Policy and Advocacy team in their efforts. You will have the opportunity to influence funding strategy at a fast-paced and growing non-profit that merges tech with mental health services.

Responsibilities

As a Grants Manager, you will own our federal, state, local and foundation grants process from the stages of identification to application to reporting. This will include:

  • Managing existing grant opportunities at the federal, state, and local government levels
  • Identifying and writing grant proposals and responses to state RFPs related to mental and behavioral health
  • Negotiating grant and service contracts alongside our Legal department
  • Understanding and discussing the specifics of Crisis Text Line with state and local officials and partners
  • Coordinating deliverables for state and local contracts with relevant departments at Crisis Text Line, such as training and volunteer experience 
  • Representing the organization at industry and coalition meetings
  • Assisting with foundation grants as needed
  • Actively support individual, team and org racial equity knowledge, and apply understanding through ongoing learning, reflecting and dialogue opportunities

Qualifications

  • 4+ years professional nonprofit experience working with federal, state and/or local government grants 
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, even when discussing complex topics
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a regard for confidentiality
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with teams to achieve deliverables 
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to pivot directions quickly
  • BA/BS required (or equivalent experience)
  • Financial experience with budget creation and reporting
