Job Description

We're making a hardware wallet for the next 100M bitcoin users. Our goal is economic empowerment -- starting with bringing easy-to-use, reliable self-custody to a global audience. We're assembling a team deeply experienced in an extremely wide range of disciplines, including business, operations, design, software, hardware, security, and so many other aspects of product delivery. In this position, you will be responsible for strategic sourcing and supplier management across components and a contract manufacturer for our new Hardware Wallet.

This is a senior, execution-oriented role central to the development of an impactful, highly-visible new product area. This role will report to the functional department lead, but will be dedicated to working on the hardware wallet product.

You Will:

  • Develop a sourcing strategy across both the contract manufacturer and component supply chain

  • Manage pricing and contract negotiations, component quality, forecasting, vendor selection, relationship management, and supply assurance

  • Leverage best practices in hardware procurement from the existing Square hardware practice

  • Monitor vendor deliverables and schedules

  • Understand core materials markets and industry dynamics, as well as market intelligence on potential suppliers

  • Work with Electrical Engineering, Product Design, Product, and Operations to choose and qualify the best possible suppliers for our products

  • Work with with operations on capacity planning, ramp readiness, yield, throughput improvement and issue resolution.

  • Communicate to senior management about any potential supply chain disruptions which can affect our product

  • Travel ~15%, mostly internationally

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 12+ years of experience in Global Supply Management, including with electrical components (silicon, board electrical components, modules, some mechanicals experience a plus)

  • Ability to articulate complex manufacturing and supply chain concepts to business and engineering partners and management

  • Deep understanding of hardware manufacturing processes and a thorough approach in developing commodity risk management strategies in a dynamic global supply chain

  • Exposure to contract manufacturer selection and relationship establishment

  • Exceptional relationship management skills for dealing with Square's diverse supply base
