Job Description

Butterfly Network is seeking a Joint Design Manufacturer (JDM) Global Sourcing Manager to join as a key leader in the product development and manufacturing team of our ultrasound technology. You will work with internal teams and external partners to define, develop, manufacture and launch new products using a JDM development model.  In this role, you will lead all JDM product activities ensuring that the products are launched on time, on cost, and with the quality expected of the Butterfly brand.   

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be: 

  • Responsible for leading the activities for all JDM products and accessories at Butterfly to achieve the cost, quality, and delivery goals
  • Define the internal processes used for products developed and manufactured using a JDM model and align the roles and responsibilities between the internal and external teams
  • Develop a JDM partner strategy including capabilities and capacity that aligns with the product road map requirements
  • Work with the product management team to define and document clear and concise product requirements for all products that will follow a JDM model
  • Work with the JDM to communicate the product requirements and ensure proper translation into engineering requirements
  • Act as the technical and operations lead for the JDM products and enlist internal resources as necessary to augment the partner capabilities
  • Create RFQ/RFP for new products and work with sourcing to negotiate NRE, timelines and landed costs  
  • Work with marketing, finance, sourcing and supply planning to ensure proper supply chain capacity is in place at the JDM to meet the ramp plan and forecast
  • Act as the JDM products point of accountability and the voice of the program by communicating risks and issues to senior management
  • Lead executive-level quarterly business reviews (QBR) with critical partners

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree Required
  • 10+ years experience in development and manufacturing of complex medical or consumer electronics products
  • Strong technical background and hands-on experience designing and developing products
  • Proven experience leading internal and external cross-functional groups of teams in multiple time zones through the product development lifecycle and into production
  • Strong communication skills through all levels of an organization
  • Experience managing joint design manufacturers, contract manufacturers and suppliers in Asia
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business
