Job Summary

AECOM is looking for an experienced GIS Specialist to work as an on-site contractor at a client site to provide geospatial data management, analysis, and visualization services. This position is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA and will support the analysis/visualization of enterprise, business system, or external data elements in support of the Installation Geospatial Information and Services Program.

This position is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA. This position is 1 hour north of San Diego, but it is not in San Diego, CA.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as the technical lead supporting the creation and visualization of data layers and map products using ArcGIS Desktop/Portal.
  • Manage web-based geospatial content/apps/systems and maintain a digital GIS Program Binder detailing the processes and actions involved in completing assigned duties.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed work. Independently responds to technical/administrative instructions on results expected.
  • Provide consultation for geospatial strategic planning and resolution of issues, technical assistance and training and liaison support with installation/regional planners or other functional communities.
  • Meets with subject matter experts to discuss topics, such as technical specifications, customized solutions and operational problems.
  • Defines optimum workflows for managing geospatial data, and designs, implements, and tests configuration changes to ArcGIS Portal Apps.
  • Review technical requirements to meet objectives and perform quality assurance on a variety of geospatial content/services.
  • Develops new approaches to problems and coordinates technical specifications, customized solutions and operational problems.
  • Perform field data collection using a variety of GPS, GNSS, and related technology.

This position is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA. This position is 1 hour north of San Diego, but it is not in San Diego, CA.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geography, planning, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS) + none or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid driver's license
  • US Citizen based on need to obtaining a secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 - 2 years of ArcGIS desktop GIS experience
  • Experience with Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro and AGOL
  • Must have the ability to work independently and with a team of professionals
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Will be required to work independently and communicate directly with customers from environmental, energy and other business areas
