Accountabilities
- Pioneer the use of enterprise GIS for research informatics and agriculture decision sciences
- Promote reusability of geospatial and environmental data by creating restful APIs to curated data products
- Assist in the creation, upkeep, and deployment of a platform roadmap that is in line with prioritized business goals and digital strategy.
- Collaborate with other IT functions to ensure the platform's clear and comprehensive integration into the wider IT ecosystem.
- Conduct analysis to determine the quality and significance of environmental and geospatial datasets derived from various sources.
- Work closely with end users to identify geospatial data requirements, technical requirements and IT competency
- Develop robust end-to-end data solutions for geospatial structured and unstructured data including ingestion, parsing, integration, auditing, logging, aggregation, normalization, and error handling
Qualifications
Requirements
- Relevant academic degree and/or appropriate professional qualification:
- A.A./A.S. or B.A./B.S. Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography or related
- 3+years' experience working with GIS applications
- 1+ years experience with Python, SQL
- Knowledge of geospatial data types including vector, raster, gridded, point cloud data types
- Knowledge in the fields of data ETL, data marts, and big data related technologies
- Knowledge in database design, modeling, and normalization
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in relational databases such as Postgresql and MS SQL Server
- Familiarity with BI reporting tools
- Familiarity creating and managing rest services with Geoserver, ArcGIS Server, or Mapserver
- Familiarity caching and mosaicing large raster datasets, to include map tile layers
