This position is based on-site at our Indianapolis fulfillment center.
What You’ll Do
Hungryroot is looking for a Food Safety and Quality Manager to join their growing Operations Team. This individual will be directly responsible for the company’s corporate and satellite food safety and quality programs. This role will partner with other team members to ensure the company and its Fulfillment Centers meet all internal and government food safety, regulatory and quality standards. The food safety and quality manager will communicate regularly to the broader team on product and process status’ and risks.
To be successful in this role, this person will need to drive continuous improvement to the company’s operational metrics and ensure safe food at the highest quality is delivered to all customers. The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating the quality of fresh produce. This role will report directly to the VP of Technical Services.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Management of food safety and quality programs and SOPs [Create documentation and training as applicable]
- Management of vendor on-boarding food safety and quality documentation
- Investigation of quality concerns and customer complaints with root cause analysis and corrective action documented
- Documentation of product food safety risk assessments
- Perform food safety audits at different facilities [some travel required]
- Product Inspections and evaluations
- Fresh produce quality program management
- Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and manage quality initiatives with cross functional partners.
Why We Need You
- Minimum of 3 years working in Food Safety and Quality in manufacturing, fulfillment center or warehouse
- Travel required - about 15%
- Strong Knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP certified, FSMA- PCQI, GMPs, SQF)
- USDA and FDA product experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, Airtable and Netsuite experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or a related field
