The Microsoft Federal organization was established to address the unique mission, legal/regulatory requirements, and procurement rules and processes of the United States Government (USG). As a Security Specialist you will be a senior solution sales contributor within the Microsoft Federal organization working with our most important customers across Civilian, Defense, and Intelligence on projects and outcomes that impact the entire Federal government. In this role you will identify specific challenges and opportunities unique to the USG that align with Microsoft's capabilities. A successful candidate will be able to investigate, ideate, qualify, own and close to achieve customer outcomes that exceed USG expectations while also driving Microsoft solution sales and usage/consumption targets. You will work with customers directly to evaluate their scenarios, create innovative approaches that meet their requirements, and drive customer satisfaction.ResponsibilitiesBe the opportunity owner and foremost technical expert in a particular area of security expertise

  • Identify new deals that integrate into Microsoft's existing Multi-cloud/Hybrid security motions or that require new security motions.
  • Lead strategy and technical presentations, demonstrations, proof of concepts, and pilots to explain and demonstrate the value of the solution
  • Overcome customer objections, win customer technical decisions, prove business value & land the full value of the solution with customer
  • Drive complex and strategic deals in alignment with OU Security Solution Specialists and Area Sales Leads
  • Act as the subject matter expert for a particular area of security such as Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), Zero Trust, Network Security, or IoT Security. Provide insights into industry, customer, and competitive trends. Share proven practices with the field through readiness and coaching to build additional security capability and accelerate sales opportunities and customer success


Lead engagements and deliver on revenue and usage accountabilities

  • Engage confidently with senior leaders in the US Government to articulate value proposition and strategize on how Microsoft can continue to be a trusted partner in protecting critical infrastructure and creating a safer world
  • Acquire, lead, and drive security opportunities through the sales process from qualification to close
  • Actively take responsibility to identify and remove technical blockers associated with customer requirements
  • Build a strong and active external network with both customers and partners
  • Deliver on expectations/promises resulting in tangible customer business outcomes


Interface with customers and orchestrate a v-team of resources to solve customer problems

  • Identify blockers and work directly with corporate and engineering teams to recommend potential resolution
  • Shape current and future sales approaches, marketing strategies, and product features through a tight feedback loop with sales, marketing, and engineering
  • Establish relationship with key partners to drive Security opportunities and showcase co-sell approach to field sellers
  • Scale impact by transferring knowledge and building local capabilities for the field and customers through publishing recommendations, patterns, and practices
  • Prove successful patterns and anti-patterns to show what security approaches work by demonstrating security solutions and practices in simulations

QualificationsA strong candidate will possess as many of the following skills and experiences as possible:

  • Strong technical background in security, compliance, identity, and endpoint/server management
  • Proven track record of overachieving results in complex technical opportunities
  • Ability to innovate and work through market ambiguity to cultivate and exercise cyber thought leadership
  • Fluency with cyber threat intelligence threats, trends, and developments
  • Understanding of key cyber security roles and personas who will be consumers Microsoft security solutions
  • Technical understanding & Hands on experience with one or more cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Familiarity with cloud security architectures for security across different types of cloud and cloud/hybrid systems and all 6 pillars of Zero Trust
  • Ability to talk effectively to both a technical and non-technical audience to remove technical blockers, overcome customer objections & drive business value conversations
  • Desire to publish security recommendations and best practices to accelerate security community development and maturity
  • Build a strong and active external network with both customers and partners
  • Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Proven competency to collaborate cross organizations, deal with ambiguity and drive impact without direct authority

Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of technology/security-related sales or account management experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field AND 6+ years of technology-related sales or account management experience
The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
Cloud Screening: Candidates must be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis.
Candidates selected for this position must comply with Federal Executive Order 14042 mandating that federal contractors and subcontractors receive the COVID-19 vaccine by being fully vaccinated before their date of hire, or work with Microsoft to receive an approved religious or medical accommodation
