Job Summary: Cole Engineering Services is seeking highly motivated experimentation and test engineer to join a team to develop a next-generation 5G wireless simulation and training capability for the US Army. This opportunity will allow you join a small team that is pioneering new software & hardware development activities for the Department of Defense. This involves developing a deep understanding of complex software systems, identifying requirements, designing solutions, and integrating these designs in a rapid and agile manner. You will also help Plan, Prepare, Execute and Assess (PPEA) experiments to exercise the 5G system as appropriate.

The role will involve working with and coordinating between production software engineering staff, external co-developers and their stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform verification testing, and acceptance testing. Create and use system documentation to determine and document application requirements.
  • Performs system and unit testing, configuration item and system level tests, and support verification/validation testing as required.
  • Produce test and experimentation documentation to support testing and experimentation activities both in the test lab and in the field.
  • Coordinate fielding and training schedules, creates and updates user, operator, and maintenance training materials. Customizes training materials based upon user requirements.
  • Supports engineering teams in the design, validation and execution of system and software test cases, military scenarios, and procedures that incorporates the use of a variety of software applications and tools.

Required Skills:

Must have the ability to build test data sets and perform Manual Systems Acceptance Tests and Experimentation according to approved test plans. Additionally, must have experience in the development of test scenarios, writing test summaries, test problem reports, providing support for User Acceptance Testing. Ability to apply approved technical approaches to testing to ensure that applications are evaluated in an analytical and systematic manner. Must have a working knowledge of DoD test procedures and their governing regulations and requirements and have demonstrable history working with system users who may not be knowledgeable in test procedures and assist in user acceptance testing. Must work well as part of a team and have excellent communication skills.

  • Familiarity with :
    1. Plan, Prepare, Execute and Assess (PPEA) Army training methodology
    2. Basic tenets of Move, Shoot, Communicate, Protect, and Sustain
    3. Agile methodology and processes
    4. Systems engineering processes and tools
  • Knowledge and experience with Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) simulation systems operations
  • Experience with Live, Virtual, and Constructive - Integrating Architecture (LVC-IA)
  • Understanding of Military Simulation and Training systems architectures
  • Use of Exercise Controller and After-Action Review components
  • Understanding of military doctrine and training
  • Coordination, Execution and Documentation of training exercises from small scale (squad level) to large scale (battalion level)
  • Assists in the creation and development of military exercises in support of experimentation

Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

Experience with software agile development and CM tools. Previous military experience may be used to replace requirement for bachelor's degree.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Test Engineer position.

Other Requirements: Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status with ability to obtain a SECRET to TOP SECRET security clearance. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.

Position requires COVID 19 full vaccination or willingness to test as required by the customer; testing is at the cost of the individual.
