GDIT is seeking an Epidemiologist to support the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Division (AFHSD) of the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

This position will work in Aberdeen, MD at the Army Public Health Center (APHC).

The AFHSD Army Satellite conducts health surveillance and epidemiologic analyses in the areas of behavioral and social health outcomes, injury, infectious and chronic diseases, injury prevention, and occupational medicine in support of promoting and maintaining the health of military members. This Epidemiologist will support epidemiologic and health surveillance analyses to protect the health and combat readiness of Soldiers. This position will also perform health surveillance activities of deployed and non-deployed population data and in-depth analysis of epidemiologic data.

This epidemiology position provides the opportunity to work with a large and comprehensive longitudinal health surveillance data sets toperform analyses that provide information to protect and promote the health of ourservice members. It will alsoprovide theopportunity to gain knowledge and expertise about a broad array ofdiseases and injuriesthat can affect the health and well-being of our service members. You will work as part of a cross disciplinary team of experts in public health, epidemiology,preventive medicine and dataanalytics. In collaboration with theseteammates, you will have the opportunity to design health surveillance analyses and co-author manuscripts for publication.

In this role, a typical day could include the following tasks:

  • Collaborate with a team of contractor, government, and military public health professionals on surveillance and data collection efforts.
  • Conduct descriptive and complex epidemiologic and statistical analyses on injury data, behavioral health data, and/or other data using SAS.
  • Support the dissemination of the results of surveillance efforts and other studies via technical reports, briefings, presentations, and manuscripts.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or public health (or related field)
  • 2+ years of related experience in health surveillance and/or applied epidemiology
  • Demonstrated experience in health data analyses using SAS programming language
  • Solid knowledge in epidemiology, preventive medicine and/or public health and current on public health events
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office software (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
  • Experience and technical skills to conduct analyses; write reports; prepare briefings; and coherently present results
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret clearance



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with DoD health-related databases to perform longitudinal analyses
  • Active Secret clearance
