We are looking for an Engagement Manager (EM) to join our Project Delivery Management Capability (PDM). This role focuses on providing delivery leadership, both technical and strategic. As an EM at Levvel, an Endava Company, you must be meticulous, driven, and collaborative, with an ability to maintain a strategic viewpoint throughout all facets of your work. Being proactive in your methodology is a must! From running engagements to building relationships, you must be able to communicate effectively and move conversations, projects, and clients towards their goals.


As an EM, you know what it takes to build and launch a product and technology at scale. Your role covers almost the entire SDLC (software development lifecycle), and having an understanding of how all the parts fit together is crucial to your success. You must have strong critical thinking and analytical skills to be able to break down problems, solve smaller problems, and re-connect the dots. As an EM at Levvel, having strong communication skills and a good executive presence is key. You must be able to work with teammates at different levels of a project and translate between those layers, all while having the foresight of what red flags may come up. In your role, you will lead the delivery of software and/or the digital product experience. You will ask questions of the team to discover risks or gaps, identify any lack of confidence in a plan, and collaboratively work through any misalignment you or the team identify. 


At Levvel, an Endava Company, our EMs are comfortable discussing banking and payments products, as well as being able to maintain and articulate a perspective on the technical complexities and proposed software solutions - collaborating with Levvel an Endava Company, subject matter experts as needed. In this role, you will work closely with all levels of the organization, including technical consultants, project management consultants, and operational teams. You will work with clients and executive partners to drive partnerships and success for all of our engagements. Problem-solving and clearing out roadblocks for your team will be a critical part of this role.

As part of the team, you must be comfortable having challenging conversations with various partners, while maintaining an appropriate orientation to issues. You must also be flexible as needs change, while still driving success and productivity. As an EM, you must have experience managing escalations and be suited to managing different personalities, thereby facilitating productive engagements and ensuring harmonious client relationships that thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of large-scale and/or highly complex client engagements, achieving the strategic objectives of the Statement of Work 
  • Build and execute delivery plans that include a full product lifecycle, including software development, testing, and also infrastructure and deployment activities required to deliver working, testable software 
  • Manage engagement risk; identifying areas of risk, acting as an escalation point for the team as well as a shield 
  • Manage engagement change; identifying scope creep, pushing back when appropriate, managing client expectations, and keeping the team informed and aligned 
  • Manage the project economics; planning and budgeting, contributing to the definition of deliverables, and ensuring consensus of proposed solutions from top-level client stakeholders 
  • Regularly communicate with clients to maintain a positive relationship, demonstrate expertise and value, and act as an escalation point, if needed 
  • Be comfortable having hard conversations with clients 
  • Lead and manage expectations for multiple software delivery projects, remaining effective across them all 
  • Daily management of project team:

  • This includes: 


     

    1. Working with Product Owners and Architects to define and deliver the strategy and technology solutions for clients 

    2. Validating Engineering’s ability to meet client commitments 

    3. Creating and maintaining the RAID log, status reporting, and meeting agendas - partnering with Project Management, if available 

    4. Being comfortable getting ‘in the weeds’ as and when required 

    5. Work with sales and marketing team to help build knowledge base of each client’s business, organization, objectives, and needs 

    6. Display a sense of urgency, be comfortable taking the initiative, and keep the team focused on results 

    7. Manage, motivate and lead teams; identify continuous improvement and mentoring opportunities for them; Train others in your skillset and be open to knowledge sharing 

    8. Be forward-looking and remove barriers and solve red-flag issues before they become major problems to enable the team to progress per plan; strategic thinker and planner 

    9. Superb communicator, at executive or C-suite level as well as at individual contributor level; Able to influence without persuasion 

    10. Make judgment calls on priorities with great attention to detail, without being unduly time-consuming 

    11. Capture best practices, case studies, and other core deliverables to iterate on internal playbooks 



Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proactive management of both an engagement and a relationship, with strong presence and relationship building 
  • Proven ability to successfully lead, run, and mentor large and cross-functional teams 
  • Proven track record working independently and being responsible for a process while remaining collaborative in your approach 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively 
  • Proven ability to consult and advise clients on operational and technical solutions 
  • Proven adaptability and an ability to learn quickly particularly technical concepts 
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical strategies and concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including senior client leaders 
  • Proven ability to think strategically and drive initiatives 
  • Proven ability to know where clarity is needed or where issues are likely to arise 
  • Experience leading a project team of 6 or more individual contributors
  • Experience in all phases of product creation and software development lifecycles
  • Provide and receive candid feedback, as well as be able to delegate, when appropriate 
  • Outstanding soft skills with the ability to engage internal and external audiences of all levels 
  • Proven understanding of how to mitigate risk and protect both client and internal stakeholders 
  • 10+ years of professional experience in technical delivery management, IT program management or similar roles 
  • 4+ years in financial services and/or payments 
  • 4+ years consulting or in similarly strategic / influential roles outside consulting is preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred
