The Role
Embedded Controls Issue Resolution Team (IRT) represents the Electrical SMT at both the pre-production build site and vehicle assembly plant. The Embedded Controls Issue Resolution Team is responsible for driving resolution of all software build-related issues for the Electrical SMT and serves as the "Boots on the Ground". This role works in close collaboration with the VSIE (Vehicle Systems Integration Engineer), Controls Manager, Electrical VSE (Vehicle Systems Engineer), and the QE (Quality Engineer), engaging engineers from across the Electrical SMT. This is a very "hands on" assignment with focus around software and calibration. This assignment also provides a unique opportunity to learn about many vehicle systems as well as the manufacturing and vehicle launch processes. This role reports through the Electrical Program Execution Team.
Responsibilities

  • Assume leadership responsibility for all software build related issues for the Electrical SMT
  • Support EVC (Electric Verification Check) flash and functionality activities
  • Create and maintain a validation file to confirm module bootloader/software fidelity during pre and post lab check at the Pre-Production Operation (PPO) facility
  • Track Electrical software PRTS issues and ensure that owners provide timely and effective closure
  • Participate in VCIT meeting to review all software issues and timing with DREs
  • Support the QE in completing the PRTS 4-Diamonds as well as reject or approve Electrical PRTS issues at Launch PRC stage
  • Provide proper preliminary root cause analysis to ensure appropriate assignment of PRTS issues
  • Ensure all Process Change opportunities are reviewed. (Diamond 5)
  • Coordinate Engineering Try-Outs (ETO) and Plant Trial Runs (PTR)
  • Track DTC ignores and any deviations implemented throughout IVER phase & review for next build event to ensure proper documentation submitted in Deviator
  • Provide and implement containment plans as required
  • Track/monitor breakpoints of containment and corrective action
  • Present top issues at build event meetings (Daily Easel Board Review, VIRT, Wall Review)
  • Escalate unresolved issues to Electrical SMT Engineering Group Manager and Director
  • Ability to travel as required without notice


Additional Description
Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
  • Ability in integration and system understanding
  • Extensive level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
  • Extensive level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Extensive understanding of Specification and Release terms and systems
  • Extensive expertise within the business unit of leading-edge or complex technologies, relevant disciplines, theories, or techniques
  • Consistent collaboration of Global and Regional teamwork for strategy development and critical issue resolution
  • Demonstrated ability of "dealing with ambiguity" to enable timely decision making
  • Proven leadership skills which translate to high degree of inner self confidence and ability to motivate others
  • Demonstrated people leader skills and must feel very comfortable leading Product Engineers who are "matrix" to the program, not direct reports
