Job Summary

The Professional Services organization within Avalara is primarily responsible for the successful implementation of our SaaS products with our customers. The Consultant is an integral element of the implementation team dealing with the analysis and validation of client data. You will be primarily responsible for the configuration of the environment and testing of client data; bringing a client from concept to validation.

Job Duties

• Configure the Avalara software according to specification as provided in the Blueprint documents
• Configure Master Data
• Test and validate software configurations
• Identify variances between tested and expected results over large data sets
• At times you may be looking for just one or two transactions in error over a data set of tens of thousands
• Research and tie variances back to data or configuration issues
• Maintain specific technical project documents to meet and support project progression and milestones:
• Testing Log
• Use Case Scenarios
• Product Acceptance Test Plans and Acceptance Criteria Documents
• Collaborate on a daily basis with a multi-faceted project team to support execution of project tasks.
• Participate in project status meetings and discussions with the project team(s)
• Gather and record daily project efforts within PMO technologies to support project status, customer billing, utilization goals, and project progression.
• Work under the direction of senior staff to resolve gaps found during testing

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MIS or Business Admin with technical focus
• Excellent team working skills and collaborative mindset
• Potential exists for up to 25% travel
• Proficient with MS Office, specifically MS Excel
• Strong data analysis, quantitative, and analytical skills
• Strong contributor, directly involved in the hands-on work to achieve project deliverables
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Strong in time management skills, self-motivation, completing tasks within cost and hourly utilization constraints

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with tax, specifically excise tax a plus.
• Project Management experience or coursework a plus
• technical and/or project related internship experience
• Demonstrated strength in problem definition and resolution
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate amongst a variety of personality and technical types

• Attentive to detail and well-organized
• An ability to work within some level of ambiguity without struggle
• Ability to handle multiple projects and multiple tasks simultaneously without impact to quality of results
