mCLASS provides proven early literacy diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments to comprehensively support each student's literacy development in grades K-6. Our suite of early literacy resources work together seamlessly to target skill gaps and provide the right instruction at the right time. Authored by researchers at the University of Oregon, DIBELS 8th Edition provides efficient, reliable early reading measures with advanced test design that prevents overtesting. DIBELS 8th Edition measures the five basic early literacy skills: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Amplify also provides mCLASS Lectura, an assessment of Spanish foundational skills.
District Coach, mCLASS - Prince George's County
The District Coach will design and lead professional development support for the Prince George's County mCLASS implementation. The district coach will closely partner with district instructional staff to analyze data, identify instructional needs, and strategize on the professional development needs district-wide. The district coach will regularly share data and trends with District literacy leaders, provide reports to various teams within the district, and collaborate with the PGCPS Teacher and School Leader Coach to provide a comprehensive support plan across all levels of the district. The District Coach will coordinate and schedule PD led by regional trainers to support the strengthening of knowledge of mCLASS and data throughout the school year.

This is a full-time position, and the District Coach must be able to travel to PG County Public Schools when requested by the district.
Responsibilities of District Coach:

  • Lead professional learning around mCLASS assessments, which includes data analysis and action planning sessions, for district leaders
  • Work with groups of educators at the district level to interpret data, set goals, and plan literacy instruction based on assessment data
  • Facilitate mCLASS product trainings for groups of up to 30 educators
  • Regularly share data with district partners, and report out on data to various district teams
  • Monitor benchmark completion and and progress monitoring fidelity
  • Using data, coordinate PD with Teacher and School Leader coach and support school-based coach in their work by helping to identify needs and target schools
  • Support district leaders in interpreting aggregated data and planning for school and tiered supports
  • Plan logistics and schedule district-wide PD sessions that support additional targeted learning, led by members of Amplify's regional training cohort
  • Collaborate with the Amplify team supporting the district
  • Communicate thoughtfully and proactively with district contacts
  • Consult and provide district contacts with recommendations on how to best support educators using mCLASS
  • Design and communicate strategic supports to educators at key times of the year
  • Participate in Amplify coaching meetings and internal trainings
  • Support Amplify's internal team with the design of standard and custom PD projects that include, but are not limited to: powerpoint decks, videos, online courses, participant resources, etc.


Basic Qualifications of District Coach:

  • 5+ years of K-5 ELA teaching experience
  • Experience in coaching and facilitating professional development in early literacy and foundational skills for adult learners
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret district-, school-, and classroom-level data and determine next steps for instruction
  • Experience liaising with district-level leaders
  • Demonstrated client/partnership management experience
  • Instructional leadership experience as a coach, school leader or district leader
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology-based productivity tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Applications, etc.
  • Able to travel locally across Prince George's County as needed when delivering sessions or providing coaching support and nationally when delivering sessions or providing coaching support for accounts outside of PG County
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Amplify's COVID-19 policy requires proof of full vaccination for all in-person on-site work.


Preferred Qualifications of the District Coach:

  • Experience administering Amplify's mCLASS assessments (DIBELS 8th Edition,, DIBELS Next, or, IDEL)
  • 3+ years of K-5 ELA teaching experience in Prince George's County
  • Proven knowledge of current early literacy instruction best practices in Spanish
  • Fluent in Spanish (including speaking, reading, and writing) and able to deliver trainings in Spanish
  • Understanding and compassion for the role of the teachers and leaders
  • Master's or Advanced Degree in Education
