Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Distributed Platform Director will be responsible for multiple IT functions and infrastructure platforms
  • The role is responsible for all infrastructure technologies, operations and processes and information security oversight
  • This includes support and "day to day" operation of on-premise physical and private cloud-based enterprise servers and systems at our major data centers. It is required that this key contributor is technically current and proficient, capable of leading a team of managers and technologists
  • This role ensures the technology team delivers excellent customer service and a high degree of support to our partners and leadership
  • Must be comfortable with managing people, setting standards, and achieving results
  • The Distributed Platform Director should be continually looking for opportunities to improve enterprise technology infrastructure, security, and operational processes to build business value
  • Positions in this family are involved in managing general operations which are not specific to one IT Function
  • Responsible for talent acquisition, onboarding, development, and retention of technical management staff
  • Assesses and develops high potential employees through on the job stretch assignments, internal mobility, and rotational assignments
  • Realistically evaluates employees without bias and can deliver feedback appropriately and timely
  • Maintains/Improves high levels of service delivery with a sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in IT management in a large-scale enterprise organization
  • 5+ years of experience leading in a Unix Windows and ESX environment
  • 5+ years of experience with ITSM
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accountable for enterprise scale Distributed Compute environments
  • Implements and maintains governance, monitoring and required controls (ITIL processes) to insure highly available and reliable systems and operating environments
  • Drives continuous improvement through work group facilitation and active leadership within and across the IT organization
  • Mentors and coaches technology talent in support of succession planning and anticipation of future growth
  • Focuses on maintaining and improving operational stability across infrastructure services
  • Leads and sets team direction, removes roadblocks, and provides guidance to functional managers
  • Partners with peers on mutually beneficial organizational goals

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $113,500 to $218,100. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
