Job Description:
The Opportunity
The role of Director of Curriculum, Development is responsible for charting the direction of Pluralsight's strategically-curated content offerings for its designated content domains, across all content mediums supported by the Pluralsight platform. The Director of Curriculum brings a unique combination of subject matter expertise and curriculum development and management skills to bear in developing and leading our curriculum direction efforts. The Director of Curriculum works closely with counterparts across the Experience Organization to bring defined curriculum and content partnership initiatives to market, support strategic sales- and marketing-enablement efforts across the company, and also plays a key role in customer and partner-facing initiatives.
Who you are:

  • A lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity
  • A savvy market analyst knowledgeable in current and emerging trends, technologies, vendors, influencers, and tools
  • An analytical mind that possesses the ability to quickly analyze and comprehend new or unfamiliar technologies
  • A business-minded professional who can translate division-level business objectives into team-specific key results
  • A strong communicator, whose skills extend to both written and verbal communications, with a knack for diplomacy
  • A leader AND team player with the ability to work effectively with distributed teams
  • A natural vision-caster who can create, share, and promote a vision of the future-and help others see the path to making that vision reality.

What you'll own:

  • Curriculum leadership and direction of all areas of software development. This is to include:
  • Translating high-level topical coverage decisions from the VP, Developer Skills, into lists of specific courses that will be commissioned by the Director, Skills Content from our author network.
  • Providing recommendations on granular coverage decisions to the VP, Developer Skills.
  • Establishing and maintaining coverage plans per topic, as well as reusable course design patterns that are used as a first-stage planning tool by external authors.
  • Formulating, publishing and maintaining curriculum roadmaps for all supported content domains, across all platform-supported content types
  • Analyzing course performance and making retirement/update/refresh recommendations to the VP, Developer Skills.
  • Work directly with external "topical champions" who, as subject matter experts, help devise the lists of courses we need in each topic in order to meet our coverage targets.
  • Collaborating with other teams to develop tooling and workflows for the implementation of curriculum plans across all stages of the content creation pipeline
  • Management of a team of 2-4 Curriculum Managers

Experience you'll need:

  • A solid understanding of instructional design techniques and approaches, along with experience in "what works" and "doesn't" work in the area of self-paced, computer-based learning
  • A demonstrated ability to rapidly research, analyze and comprehend the necessary topical areas at a planning level
  • Strong, demonstrated leadership with the ability to effectively manage direct reports and help with their professional development
  • Familiarity with audio and video production, or other types of graphical communication
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards, and running data queries, in tools like Tableau and Snowflake
  • Experience using web-based project management tooling such as Asana and Monday.com

An Insider's view of Pluralsight

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Oh, it is incredible here. Pluralsight constantly reminds me how important I am to the company both personally and professionally. Pluralsight creates a space where I can work, grow, and connect with similar people in so many different parts of the world while still leaving enough room for me to focus and find joy in my personal life as well.

Chris (he/him)

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

The goal of a user profile is to provide a sense of identity in a personalized and centralized portfolio. Today, users provide this data in many different ways throughout the platform. Our greatest challenge is to build a unified profile with a centralized view of a user’s data to paint one clear picture of all their interactions in the platform.

Anesha (she/her)

What does career growth look like on your team?

We embrace a mindset of continuous improvement and encourage team members to take ownership of their careers. As part of that, we advise leaders and team members to co-create development plans. Whether it be up-skilling, re-skilling, or expanding their influence we believe in investing skills development and facilitating growth experiences.

Ai-ling (she/they)

What makes someone successful on your team?

A successful individual brings their true self to work. Teams do not benefit from a group that contains like minded individuals from similar backgrounds. We learn so much from each other and about ourselves when we have a team with diverse ways of thinking and experiences. It also creates a healthy, challenging environment that befits the company.
