Responsibilities
The Director of Sports Publicity will develop and execute strategic publicity campaigns for Telemundo Deportes' properties through external consumer media and sports trade outlets, as well as cross promotional efforts through the company's internal platforms.

Job Duties

  • Design communications strategies and manage logistics for sports program launches including overseeing event production, handling media relations and monitoring talent press interviews, as well as sustainable press campaigns and sports talent positioning
  • Create and implement positioning strategies for sports talent, in alliance with the area's clients, identifying timing and priorities
  • Coordinate with Talent Department all sports talent requests from sales, stations, affiliates and marketing, as well as external sources in alignment with department head to support overall strategy
  • Oversee the creation of all consumer press materials including photo shoots, press releases, pitch letters, talent bios and press kits for Sports programming and talent
  • Create and supervise electronic press kits, special clip reels, satellite media tours, press junkets, media interviews, on-set visits, photo shoots and broadcast and the production of related activities for the network
  • Build and maintains excellent relationships with editors and reporters talent, producers, PR agencies and representatives, agents, managers, production staffs and programming executives in order to ensure maximum coverage
  • Measure and report impact of program publicity and talent strategies / return on investment
  • Service daily media requests and act as network source of information on programs
  • Monitor competitive environment via daily review of competitive/industry news, and interface with other departments and NBCUniversal brands on an as needed basis
  • Works under the direct supervision of the SVP, Corporate Communications and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications/Requirements• B.S./B.A. Degree in journalism, corporate communications or PR• 6+ years of communications experience• Excellent written and verbal communications skills• Proven ability to develop and effectively manage strong working relationships with executives and talent• Candidate must possess excellent leadership and organizational skills and must demonstrate ability to motivate and lead a team• Ability to handle multiple and varied projects at one time; organize, prioritize and follow-through • Proven experience and skills in launching shows, crisis management and interfacing with all levels of executives, talent and media• Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Additional Job Requirements• Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends• Willingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment• Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area• Must be 18 years or older • Must have a valid driver's license • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
