Director of Security
What You Need To Know
Overview
The Security Director is responsible for maintaining secure environment for customers and employees by studying organization operations and executive schedules; establishing internal controls; conducting inspections; preparing and updating security manual; laying out observation and warning systems; gathering evidence; presenting evidence at hearings and trials; directing emergency actions on location; directing staff.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinates all aspects of executing the security contract at the assigned location(s)
- Responsible for supervising, motivating, coaching and training employees
- Conduct interviews, make recommendations for placement of security professionals, and execute site-specific orientations
- First point of contact for security professionals regarding performance, operations, emergency response activities, and the department needs
- Promote a culture that embraces our workplace values and work with staff to create and maintain an environment reflective of those values
- Develop and implement strategic and operational plans to achieve our short and long term security objectives and effectively communicate those objectives to all employees
- Implement and maintain all security related policies, procedures including but not limited to command protocols, business continuity, security contacts, etc
- Conduct risk assessments for all locations and for high profile staff, with recommendations for risk mitigation, maintenance or updates as appropriate
- Partner with leadership to keep crisis communication and emergency response plans current
- Stay informed and aware of trends in security technology; evaluate products and make recommendations to implement when appropriate
- Create and conduct security trainings and drills at all locations
- Initiate and maintain relationships with local and federal law enforcement through the service area
- Provide vision and leadership for the Facilities Management department, including the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager and oversight of outsourced facilities vendors and contractors
- Manage and negotiate lease terms and oversight of renewals
- Prepare, recommend, and implement building upgrades, moves, construction projects, and maintenance initiatives
- Create annual work plan and budget through financial and work flow metrics utilizing outsourced and staff resources to execute on a timely and cost efficient strategy
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Additional Primary Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree and 10 years of experience or equivalent education and related experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills
- Experience using Stanley Security and/or Accel Security and/or Pro-Watch products
- Thorough understanding of enterprise security concepts, practices and procedures
Physical Demands
- Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine
- Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15lbs
