The Director of Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory will be responsible for scaling Farmer’s Fridge best in class food safety and quality programs through a period of rapid growth.  The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing through ambiguity and change, have excellent people management and communication skills, and be excited about building a unique and new supply chain for hyper-fresh food.  This role is critical to protecting our consumers as well as our brand’s value in the marketplace.  This person will report to the VP of Menu Innovation and Product Integrity, and act as the subject matter expert on behalf of the organization for quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance issues.


What You'll Do:

  • Build, develop, and scale a team that is data driven and results oriented with an appreciation of internal and external customers needs
  • Set challenging, reasonable, metrics and performance expectations for regulatory compliance, microbiological performance, and HACCP programs and hold team accountable
  • Assess risk within our supply chain to determine required food safety and compliance interventions, auditing mechanisms, and regulatory impacts of our business model. 
  • Provide tools, training and opportunities for everyone in the company to understand and champion our culture of quality and food safety
  • Draft, implement, and validate the effectiveness of our food safety, quality, and sanitation policies, standards, and SOPs in compliance with Federal, State, Local and Company regulations
  • Act as final escalation point for food safety decisions, including recall management, with support of CEO 
  • Ensure effective and efficient follow up, corrective actions and consumer responses for product issues, complaints and general inquiries
  • Propose cost targets for scale and hold teams accountable to functional area budgets in partnership with operations leaders 
  • Review all product labeling and marketing materials to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure readiness for, and manage all 3rd party, customer, or regulatory visits/audits and coordinate all necessary communications with FDA, USDA, State, local regulators and other agencies as necessary

Minimum Skills Required: 

  • 10-15 years of experience in food manufacturing, at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with proficiency in excel/sheets and powerpoint/slides
  • Excellent people management skills - able to build trust, resolve conflict and manage through change
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with company executive team and other senior leaders
  • Strong commitment to food safety, regulatory compliance, high quality standards and continuous improvement.
