  • Job Summary
    • Incumbent has administrative responsibility and accountability for the management and direction of the operational, and support activities of the physician practice operations and infusion units of the Lombardi Cancer Center. The incumbent ensures compliance with the Hospital mission and financial goals, JCAHO and other regulatory agencies. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO AN APPROPRIATE COMBINATION OF EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.
    • Education/Training
      • Bachelors Degree. Master's Degree in area of health care management or business preferred.
    • Experience
      • Minimum of five years progressive responsible experience in a healthcare setting, with previous personnel management experience as well as finance management.
    • License/Certification/Registration
      • N/A
    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
      • Must be able to work well and communicate with people on all levels, strong computer skills, and strong organizational skills. Must have knowledge of office automation. Experience with Electronic Medical record a plus. Experience with regulatory agency processes. IDX Scheduling capabilities or competency within 3 months of hire. Must be accurate and detail oriented with an ability to handle multiple projects and reach multiple deadlines. Excellent oral communication, writing, skills.
  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities
    • Assumes responsibility (directly or through delegation to other staff members) for the management of activities within Lombardi Cancer Center in support of the mission of the Hospital and LCC - including developing, implementing and evaluating policies, procedures and standards. Follows standard operating procedures for the Department of Medicine and Georgetown University Hospital. These responsibilities are executed in accordance with standards and criteria established by JCAHO, State, Local and Federal agencies to ensure compliance to those external requirements. Works with the Division Chief, AVP/Executive Director for the Lombardi Cancer Center.
    • Manages (directly or through delegation to other staff members) administrative support staff personnel to include, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, promoting and terminating employees.
    • Collaborates with the Administrative Director of the Lombardi Cancer Center and the Director for Revenue Cycle of the Lombardi Cancer Center on the development of a continuous quality improvement program to ensure efficacy and efficiency of patient care and compliance with JCAHO and other healthcare regulatory agencies.
    • Aids Division Chief and Administrative Director of Clinical Operations in developing process improvement strategies and standard operating procedures and policies for the Division of Hematology/Oncology and Georgetown University Hospital.
    • Establishes and implements clinical operations policies and procedures to ensure efficient use of staff, equipment and supplies. Coordinates facilities management activities for outpatient clinical areas. Monitors patient f low for optimal efficiency. Conducts assessments of clinical operations to maximize overall efficiency including identifying staff development and program development. Gathers information to ensure internal and external satisfaction, cost effectiveness and efficiency of practice and infusion operations.
    • Assists with the development of the annual division and hospital budgets and requests for information in collaboration with the Administrative Director of Clinical Operations of Lombardi Cancer Center., forecasting programmatic needs to achieve articulated goals.
    • In conjunction with Risk Management, Director, Life Safety, and the Facilities Manager monitors the physical environment to reduce risk and comply with all regulatory standards including DC regulatory codes, OSHA, ADA, and JCAHO.
    • Continually scans the environment for changes and advances that will impact on the services provided by LCC, including participating in the development of the strategic plan, developing new services based on identified needs, and work with internal and external organizations to develop, coordinate and market these services.
    • Communicates and collaborates with personnel in the Medical Center/Hospital/University departments to coordinate, advocate, and develop relationships and programs that will further the mission of LCC and the Hospital.
    • Liaison with Fellowship Coordinator in functions and issues related to support of Fellows in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and is not to be considered as all-inclusive.
