The Director of Procurement is accountable for the effective operation of Amplify's Procurement function. The Director of Procurement will lead all aspects of the Procurement function in its delivery of the full suite of procurement processes as it strives to support the organization to function and develop. Through day-to-day leadership and management of the function, the Director of Procurement shall ensure that Amplify achieves the best value from its relationships with its external partners, that risk in the supply chain and service delivery are minimized, and that Amplify upholds the highest standards of visibility and ethics.

  • Strategy setting

  • Recruitment, development, and performance management of people
  • Continuous improvement
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors to ensure the effective and timely delivery of materials and services to customers
  • Category Planning
  • Sourcing
  • Aid in the management of State Depository relationships. Place stock transfers to move physical goods from supplier locations to Depositories and supervise receipts. Lead all aspects of the end-to-end Depository workflow and assist sales support with the creation of Depository-specific Opportunities in SF.
  • Develop a team over time:
  • Work with your manager to resolve the needs of the procurement function over time
  • Hire a team and resolve the best go-forward structure for procurement
  • Setting objectives
  • Conducting performance reviews
  • Acting as a point of escalation
  • Develop planning and support
  • Implement and promote the best procurement practice across the organization
  • Performance measurement and management:
  • Set and supervise key performance indicators for the procurement function
  • Put in place improvement plans where improvement opportunities are identified
  • Build strong, advisory relationships with key partners across Amplify and ensure that Procurement partners with them to deliver their plans

What You'll Need:
  • Communication: excellent verbal and written communication skills:
  • Ability to "sell" procurement's value and to run procurement as a services business like any other well-run professional services business
  • Strong administrative and social skills with the ability to identify all job-related duties within a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and handling robust project plans and project information involving multiple key partners
  • Procurement Transformation/development: Experience implementing new processes and ways of working within a large or complex organization
  • Planning and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to take a long-term view/plan and build the capacity and capability to meet Amplify's short term and long terms goals with regard to procurement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with a wide audience: IT, development, product management, operations, account support, vendors/partners, customers, and management.
  • Expertise and Technical Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of Procurement processes, tools, and standard methodologies and how these can be applied in practice
  • Understanding of finance processes and concepts and how these can be addressed/supported via procurement
  • Startup Experience:
  • Ability to establish processes where none existed previously
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Adaptable and open to change.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject
  • Minimum 8 years of applicable experience working within Procurement or supply chain
  • Experience working in the Education or Ed Tech field
  • Experience leading organizational change and/or process improvement projects

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., MCIPS)
  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration (MBA).
