What will you be doing?

  • Managing the PMO Team and associated areas
  • Supporting the Vice President of Delivery Operations and Customer Experience ensuring PMO strategy is executed 
  • Take accountability for the successful delivery of enterprise projects, by directing, leading and driving project delivery through the Delivery Operations teams, identifying dependencies impacting prioritization and making resource allocation decisions
  • Assisting with managing the pipeline of work and facilitating prioritization taking current supply/demand into consideration
  • Supporting Pythian Program Managers and Project Directors in ensuring adherence to policy and governance
  • Guiding and directing Project Managers, ensuring that effective project controls are established and maintained for all projects within their span of control. Maintaining key PMO artifacts; primarily the PMO runbooks and performing monthly program reviews
  • Influencing, organizing, and directing project teams, developing, and maintaining the Delivery Operations and Customer Experience departments Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Results (OKRs), and managing reporting against agreed metrics
  • Effectively engaging with Pythian’s customers, third parties and project stakeholders throughout the duration of projects, developing positive, enduring relationships (up to and including “C” level)
  • Ensuring that a clear understanding of projects’ progress, plans, risk, and status is regularly, clearly and accurately reported, identifying and resolving conflicts wherever they arise.
  • Maintain and improve the PMO organization structure, hire, and manage project staffing requirements in line with project objectives.
  • Support the use of the PMO methodology, and through continuous improvement initiatives advance overall maturity and drive towards predictable, consistent, and high-quality outcomes

While we realize you might not have everything to be the successful candidate for the Director, PMO job you will likely have skills such as;
  • Expert-level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, processes, and approaches
  • A natural problem-solver and strategic thinker; able to bring clarity to chaos and navigate through ambiguity
  • A positive, collaborative, and friendly attitude
  • Technical IT experience (e.g. Public Cloud, QA, Software Development, DBA)
  • Solid PMO background at a senior level, with experience of running an enterprise Project Management Office with full lifecycle experience
  • Strong influence and persuasion skills at all levels, up and including C-level
  • Experience of managing and directing large scale PMO teams
  • Strong risk management, governance, and compliance background
  • Strong understanding of the Project Lifecycle (PLC); System Development Lifecycle (SDLC); and Agile delivery components and frameworks (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, etc).
  • Experience of driving cost efficiencies across large complex programs
  • Formal professional project management certifications such as PMP or Prince 2
