About the team:

Oracle Database Director sees to the overall management of the Oracle Teams within CIO.  Teams comprise Oracle Database Administration and management, Oracle Appliances (Exadata) and support systems, Big Data team running Hadoop, and support for MySQL, Postgres, and Mongo database systems.

What you will be doing:

The Oracle Database Management Director role is a challenging and rewarding position responsible for the overall management of the Oracle database systems and relevant infrastructure components delivering financial services to a broad spectrum of customers and products across the world.    The Director is responsible for multiple teams covering the Oracle DBMS, Oracle Appliance infrastructure, Big Data Hadoop systems, Additional sub teams supporting MySQL, Postgres, and Mongo DB.    The Director is expected to provide team leadership, management, guidance and development of overall team efficiency  and direction for the improved management of a complex support environment managing both onshore and offshore support teams, with around the world support coverage  on multiple database systems.   Director will be responsible for the management of the support teams, manage the integration of additional support requirements as the area of responsibility increases, development of business plans and financial management of the Oracle DB teams and Oracle appliance infrastructure.   Director role will also be responsible for alignment with application support teams, providing communications and response to performance and operational issues, and management by objectives meeting strategic business objectives for improved operational metrics and weekly objectives.  

  • You will be managing onshore and offshore managers in day to day operational management of the database systems, addressing performance and operational issues, coordinating application updates and patching teams , developing strategic plans for multi-year support for database versions, appliance support, and coordination with development teams to address product development requirements.

  • You will Manage capital and operational expense budgets in support of operations and assist executives in the development and presentation of materials for business service delivery objectives on a monthly basis

  • You will also be expected to organize and direct resource planning efforts to maximize the utilization of 24x7 around the world support teams and address organizational requirements to improve operational service delivery KPIs.

  • Understanding of service delivery requirements and metrics management

  • Advanced degree is computer or information sciences

  • Operating systems knowledge – Unix/Linux

  • Cloud database operations – Azure, Aws, Oracle Cloud service
