Director of Operations

You will join a team developing a state-of-the-art general-purpose robot designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, to walk like humans do, and to dexterously manipulate objects with its hands and upper body.
We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to help scale our operations from Engineering Validation product stage to volume production. The Director of Operations is an essential role in the Apptronik team because it interacts with every single facet of the organization, helping us improve our operations and scale.
The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, proven leader of people and organizations. They have worked with hardware and delivered physical products, with expertise in managing business processes. Ideal candidates are multi-faceted with a good working understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, infrastructure, finance, and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Deliver our products to our customers
- Oversee the planning and execution from prototype to production for a complex robotics product
- Oversee securing supply chain for production
- Develop and maintain relationships with contract manufacturers
- Maintain and direct the daily operations of the business, including coordinating with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, IT, and other departments
- Stand up and establish various business functions as business needs mature
Must Have
- 6+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics or other related industries
- 3+ years as a people manager, managing high performance teams and organizations in various functions
- Experience in manufacturing and working with contract manufacturers
Determine if, when, and to what extent to change from in-house assembly to contract manufacturing
- Demonstrated experience deploying new business operations and processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Engineering
- Experience in a hardware startup that has created and shipped a product
- Experience in manufacturing and supply chain for electric vehicles
- Experience deploying and implementing an ERP system
- Evaluating risk buying for supply chain
- Advanced degree in Logistics, Operations, Engineering, or Business Management
- Infrastructure for fleet management
