The Director, Market Access and Health Economics will serve as a key member of the Commercial leadership team and lead the buildout of the newly created Market Access team, as well as develop and execute sustainable business plans that ensure market access strategies are aligned with the business objectives. Reporting directly to the Commercial Vice President will also keep the organization educated on current health care and economic trends, legislation, and health policy in all relevant surgical procedures. The leader will also partner closely with the Upstream and Downstream Marketing teams, R&D, Clinical, Sales, Government Affairs and other key internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will possess a substantial track record of introducing and sustaining groundbreaking medical device technology to the US marketplace. Additionally, they will possess a track record of driving reimbursement, working with healthcare payers and developing economic value proposition justification. 

In addition, they will work closely and very collaboratively with all other cross-functional colleagues, including, sales, marketing and clinical teams. This role will be dotted line to the leadership team, requiring poise and effective presentation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • As the fundamental task: Developing and executing reimbursement, health economics and market access strategies to promote growth in the adoption of Vicarious Surgical surgical robotics. 
  • Build, engage, and inspire the Market Access team to deliver on the priorities of the division, as well as our promise to our patients and customers.
  • Work directly with all cross functional partners to develop and launch new tools, economic models and other tactical elements of reimbursement.
  • Develop and launch to the sales force, new tools and practices with the goal of driving the technology’s utilization and adoption once installed in the account.
  • Manage and direct the Market Access team in developing and supporting clear aligned goals supporting Vicarious Surgical business initiatives.
  • Build relationships with key constituents both inside and outside of the company.

About You:

  • Reimbursement/market access management experience (5+ years) including a track record of driving strategic initiatives.
  • Highly communicative. Responsiveness and sense of urgency are a must in order to succeed at Vicarious Surgical.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the health care industry and experience working with key policy stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, set and manage priorities, manage multiple projects, and allocate and reallocate resources as required.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Excellent judgment, positive attitude, and customer-service minded
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment requiring comfort in operating in multiple roles from time to time. Ability to work with ambiguity, and continuously adapt in a rapidly changing atmosphere.
  • Experience and comfort with complex concept sales involving changes in customer behavior or care-pathway based in response to clinical unmet needs. 
  • Works collaboratively across functional areas to achieve common goals and is accessible to all individuals regardless of their function or level.
  • The desire and capability to personally do “heavy lifting.” This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy both strategy and execution.
  • Be able to see the big picture, while also able to “drill down” to the fine details.
  • Must believe that effective management and effective strategy development come from understanding the detail. Strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills which allow effective interaction and influence at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Persuasive presentation skills. A dynamic communicator with the ability to captivate audiences both inside and outside the company.
  • Highly intelligent and subtlety of thought (i.e., no “one size fits all” mentality). Strong critical thinking capabilities are a must have in this role.
  • An undergraduate degree is required.
  • Advanced degrees, MpH, JD, MBA, are preferred.
