Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Director, HEOR will shape the cutting-edge area of Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) technology by leading the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Modeling team to execute strategic imperatives in product R&D, clinical and commercial. In this role, the director will develop and evolve the modeling strategy, deliver data analysis, and communicate the findings to various stakeholders, such as Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), private payers, the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF), and international health systems. Our mission is to save lives by making earlier detection of cancer a part of routine medical care. As the leader that will be quantifying the expected impact of our mission in terms of lives saved and economics, this role is critical in achieving broad coverage and favorable reimbursement for Exact Science's MCED products and integrated support services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the HEOR team to define, execute and deliver HEOR modeling goals throughout the product lifecycle of MCED, including R&D, product launch, and post launch.
  • Coach and develop the team members; support the team members to meet their performance and career goals.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to support the shared goals and needs in product development, regulatory, reimbursement, clinical adoption, and patient experiences.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations with external KOLs, academic, government or non-government institutions; Develop research plans, protocols, and budgets; conduct analyses and prepare drafts, final reports, abstracts, and manuscripts. publish data and evidence that demonstrate value of MCED based on the unmet needs and the needs of the external stakeholder perspectives.
  • Mange budgets, vendors, collaborations and other relevant external resources and timelines against goals and deliverables.
  • Interact with professional societies, hospital systems and relevant government agencies to disseminate and expand the influence of MCED.
  • Incorporate business requirements and concerns of top tier customers and KOLs into modeling strategies, analytic tools, and results-focused approaches.
  • Lead the development of HEOR modeling strategies; assist in the creation of tactics for economic value and quality of life arguments during product development and launch to support pricing and reimbursement across payer and health system customers. Facilitate value and outcomes-based evaluations in support of contracting with payer organizations.
  • Coordinate necessary publicly available data to create and include economic arguments.
  • Provide additional internal training on HEOR methodologies and data results to colleagues. Ensure compliance with applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) in all activities.
  • Manage cross-functional teams to execute and deliver research, projections, and analyses on a project basis, as needed.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a highly cross-functional and strategic position.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively about HEOR approaches to a brand-new multi-cancer early detection market.
  • Ability to manage analysts; ability to work in close collaboration with Exact Sciences executives and broader Exact Sciences personnel.
  • Ability to represent the company in discussions during customer presentations, contract negotiations, and at scientific conferences.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships while enhancing the company's strategic and operational positions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (master or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, or other related fields as outlined in the essential duties; or Master's Degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, or field as outlined in the essential duties with 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Ph.D.
  • 5+ years of industry working experience in relevant professional roles in the biomedical industry, academic organization, HEOR research organization, or other setting in which responsibilities included population health statistics, outcomes research, clinical evidence, and/or modeling.
  • Strong strategic mindset and technical skills in HEOR modeling and outcomes research.
  • Proof-records on evidence generation and modeling on innovative products in healthcare setting.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with grit, accountability, and anti-frangibility.
  • Succinct communication style in messaging the rationales, milestones, and deliverables of the HEOR team to both internal and external collaborators. superior oral and written communication skills; Ability to simplify complex concepts and programs, communicate persuasively to a wide range of audiences, including leaders in all levels internally and external stakeholders.
  • Apply strong presentation development and delivery skills; ability to give presentations to a wide spectrum of audiences, both internally and externally. Team-oriented, collaborative player in matrixed working environment.
  • Selfless, open-minded, and reliable leadership in leading teams and striving for collective, greater impact in large cross-functional collaborations.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of and comfortability with various aspects of modeling cost-effectiveness and budget impact of clinical interventions, oversight of data collection and/or acquisition, analytic plan development, data analysis, KOL engagement, and the development of research findings into publications and field resources/deliverables in alignment with brand and channel strategies.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with methodological approaches and tools in health services research to include retrospective database analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, budget impact models, modeling studies, and/or patient reported outcomes assessment.
  • Proficient in programming languages used in data analysis and modeling such as SAS, R and Python and/or communication of analytical approaches and mathematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fast-paced, bio-tech industry, and on innovative products is highly preferred.
  • Having been working on launching innovative product(s) in healthcare; experience in leveraging HEOR deliverables into regulatory and reimbursement approvals.
  • 2+ years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry to include a demonstrated history of excellent performance success supporting products that are early in their life cycle. Demonstrated progressive advancement in relevant data science or professional roles in the pharmaceutical or biomedical industry, a managed care, public sector, academic organization, HEOR research organization, or other setting in which responsibilities included population-based healthcare management and/or clinical/pharmacoeconomic evidence generation.
