Our Discover team owns Snap’s content discovery platform and creator ecosystem. We help Snapchatters keep in touch with their friends and discover content from the community and publishers. We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to help support our teams solving interesting technical challenges, building world-class experiences in Snapchat and maintaining software and a platform used by hundreds of millions every day. Working from our San Francisco or Mountain View office, you’ll manage teams in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, and collaborate with leaders and executives across Snap to deliver the highest quality for our product.
What you'll do:
Oversee day-to-day operations of part of the Discover Engineering team across multiple offices
Be an active member of the Snap Engineering and Discover leadership teams
Develop organizational-level goals, drive the technical and organizational roadmap for the engineering team
Collaborate with Content, Finance, Product and Engineering teams distributed across multiple offices
Build and grow a team of exceptional machine learning engineers, software engineers and technical leaders
Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering
solutions
Mentor a team of engineering managers and senior independent contributors
Iterate quickly without compromising quality and raise the bar on operational excellence
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
10+ years of experience with applied machine learning engineering
6+ years of experience managing a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience leading a large team at scale and managing engineering with an eye to driving efficiency
Previous experience partnering with cross-functional executives and management across a globally distributed organization and exercising sound judgment
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments
Deep knowledge of and experience working with a diverse group of engineers
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments
Someone who loves to learn, and is passionate about helping others
Experience with feed ranking, search or advertising
Experience with data science and Internet-scale infrastructure
