Director, Enabling Technologies
Job Description

The Director, Business Development -Enabling Technologies will be a key contributor to our company's efforts in worldwide search & evaluation, due diligence and execution of business development opportunities in enabling technology areas complementing and/or expanding our company's current core capabilities. This individual will support Discovery & Process Chemistry, Quantitative Biosciences, Preclinical Development, Pharmacokinetics, Genomics and Cell/Gene Therapy.
Primary Activities:
- Identify, evaluate, and execute business development opportunities with a focus on cutting-edge science across different functional areas to enhance and/or expand our company's capabilities to deliver the pipeline.
- Contribute to the business development strategy for Discovery & Process Chemistry, Quantitative Biosciences, Preclinical Development, Pharmacokinetics, Genomics and Cell/Gene Therapy.
- in conjunction with functional area leadership.
- Responsible for leading deep scientific due diligence, the quality of formal due diligence output, evaluations and the integration of internal subject matter expert input and senior management review and approval.
- Work closely with search and evaluation colleagues in our business development External Innovation Hubs to ensure comprehensive coverage of the relevant opportunity space.
- Analyze the full range of data and lead cross-functional due diligence on inbound and outbound licensing and business development opportunities (from discovery through filing when applicable).
- Provide thorough and timely assessments and updates to appropriate management levels to ensure efficient communication and seamless cross functional collaboration.
- Work closely with transaction leads, legal, commercial, and financial analysis team to ensure relevant deals of highest priority are being advanced and executed timely.
- Manage a portfolio of complex business development projects serving as the primary scientific contact for potential licensing, technology transfer, acquisition, collaborations, co-development agreements, and strategic alliances in support of above areas.
- Serve as a spokesperson for our by communicating the licensing strategy externally.

Education:
- MD or PhD in relevant scientific discipline
Required:
- At least 5 plus years relevant experience in the biopharma industry with good understanding of the drug discovery and development process and broad knowledge of the biotech and healthcare sector
- At least 5 years of experience working in Chemistry.
- At least 3 or more years of relevant experience in business development and an established BD network in the biopharmaceutical industry are required
- Demonstrated success in identifying, evaluating, and executing significant business development deals and partnerships that have resulted in substantial impact.
- Thorough understanding of industry trends and competitive landscape with strong business acumen and ability to translate scientific and technical information to frame attractive business opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, critical-thinking, verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly developed organizational skills, operational skills, and ability to understand the content of and memorialize interactions with potential partners.
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to influence others to reach common goals as well as act independently.
- Must possess the executive presence to facilitate the decision-making process among Senior Executives.
- Self-motivated, attention to detail, and proven ability to work well on teams.
